Jesus was our best teacher on creating and maintaining healthy relationships. Additionally, the Apostle Paul taught his churches about the importance of healthy relationships. We can not have healthy relationships unless we love one another just as God loves us. This is, however, possible through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit working in and through us: to find healing and reconciliation. Healthy relationships create a healthy church and a healthy society.

Before Moses ever led a people through the sea, he was safely carried through the Nile.
A baby. A basket. A watchful sister. Courageous women who protected possibilityโ€”and a river that carried a future no one could yet see.
Join us Sunday for โ€œOut of the Water,โ€ a spirited message about courage, transition, sacred water, shared leadership, and the God who draws us into new life.
The basket may not look like the Exodus, but it can hold the beginning of a whole future.

Some weeks feel heavier than others.

So today, we're simply asking:
What can we pray about with you?

It can be something big, something small, something you're worried about, or something you're grateful for.

Share below if you're comfortable - or simply leave a heart and we'll hold you in prayer.

You don't have to carry everything alone.

You don't have to believe exactly like us.
You don't have to look like us.
You don't have to love like us.
You don't have to have your life figured out.
Come as you are.

At First Congregational Church of Riverside, our differences don't divide our community - they're part of what makes us a community.
There is room for you here.

In Matthewโ€™s story of the Canaanite woman, we meet someone who was considered an outsiderโ€”someone who, by the boundaries of her time, was not supposed to belong. Yet she persisted in asking Jesus for help, and in doing so, she changed the conversation. Jesus recognized her faith, and the boundaries of who belonged became bigger. This story reminds us that true belonging never asks us to change who we are. We belong to God not because we are perfect or because we fit someone elseโ€™s mold, but because Godโ€™s love and mercy are bigger than the boundaries we create. As a church, we are called not only to know that we belong, but also to make room for others to belong. The question we might carry with us is: Who is outside the circle, and what might God be teaching us through the person we have been tempted to overlook?

We Are One Family

Join us this Sunday as we welcome Rabbi Suzanne Singer to First Congregational Church of Riverside.

Rabbi Singer served Temple Beth El in Riverside for fifteen years before retiring in 2023. A former Emmy Award-winning PBS producer, respected community leader, and the daughter of a Holocaust survivor, she has devoted her life to building bridges across communities, advancing human rights, and fostering meaningful dialogue.

In a time when fear and division can so easily overshadow our shared humanity, Rabbi Singer will invite us into a thoughtful conversation about prejudice, compassion, and our responsibility to care for one another. Her sermon challenges us to confront hatred wherever it appears while remembering that every person is created in the image of God.

Whether you've been wrestling with these issues or simply want to better understand the experiences of your neighbors, we invite you to join us for this meaningful morning of worship.

If there's something weighing on your heart, or if you're celebrating something wonderful, we'd love to know.

Leave a prayer request or a word of gratitude in the comments. If it's personal, you're welcome to send us a private message instead.

You are loved.
You are welcome.
And you are never alone.
