Year 1 Coaching College Basketball

What a season a lot of new challenges and goal settings for our young men. Theres so much more than just the sport you play. We play a major role on lives of men and women as coachs and mentors spiritually & physically. What Ive learned and respected the most is the accountability factor to the student athletes. On this level and the next level you may or may not get another chance. For everyone that gets sent home for not holding their end of the bargain there is someone hungy ready to fill that spot who's willing to do what it takes playing JV walking on just to get a foot in the door. My words of motivation to all student athletes dont take your opportunity for granted regardless of what level you are. When I hear from other college coachs and friends how there are thousands of unhappy players in the transfer portal it leaves me to believe this generation dont fully understand perseverance and determination. Unless you are a 4-5* or potential 1 & done playing time may have to be earned and limited your rookie year depending on the team. So, on your decisions evaluate the school, make sure your major fits the academic parameters of the school, work and play hard. Play like its the last day everyday. The opportunity may not come around a secondq4 We. Coachs love kids who are self motivated.
