Good morning,

Thank you for joining us yesterday. We had a meaningful time reflecting on whether we seek God's presence or simply God's blessings.

This was based on the conversation Moses had with God after Israel committed the grave sin of worshiping the golden calf. Moses' heart and response were truly countercultural and inspiring. There is much we can learn from Moses-not merely from his actions, but from what was in his heart.

We should not seek only God's blessings, especially when they do not come in the way or timing we expect. Despite our sins and failures, God remains gracious, compassionate, good, and just.

This is the video recording of the session:

We will take a break for the rest of the summer and resume on Thursday, September 3. I will send a separate invitation later this month.

Wishing you all a blessed walk with God, and enjoy the summer!

Once mercy comes to you like that, you run. But everything about the running has changed. You were sprinting to secure a self that mercy had already secured; that race is over, and you didn’t win it, He did. What’s left is the other race — the one Paul says to run so as to win, the good fight he says to fight all the way to the end. You run now not to earn a place but because you’ve been handed one.

We had a wonderful time reflecting on the story of Moses, how Israel bowed down to the golden calf, how God's anger was stirred, and how Moses interceded as a mediator and saved the nation.

It is interesting to note that while Moses was away for 40 days, the people of Israel became impatient and created the golden calf, a version of God that they claimed had brought them out of Egypt. In many ways, we do the same today. We often pick and choose the parts of Scripture that are convenient for us while ignoring the parts that challenge us. We may be more sophisticated, but our hearts are still much the same.

That is why Moses standing in the gap between God and humanity as a mediator points us to the ultimate Mediator between God and us-the Son of God, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

Amen.

We will meet again on August 6, in two weeks, on Thursday at noontime. Have a wonderful summer, and I look forward to seeing you then.
