We shared this note with parishioners today as we give thanks for the life of Cindy Belle:
Chris Majkrczak passed along this news about our sister in Christ, Cindy Belle:
I am sorry to be writing you about this, but Cindy passed away early this past Sunday morning. Her brother, Roger, was with her. I visited her at Rush on Thursday and while she didn’t look good, I was hoping it was just the effects of all the anesthesia she’s had in the last month, along with a lot of pain meds. She was operated on several times starting with her liver cancer or liver duct cancer and then additional complications thru-out December and January.
Keep that family in your prayers.
The attached photo was taken of Cindy at a church potluck in February, 2020. I remember January and February 2020 very well. I was a little uncertain about the future of the partnership between River Forest UMC and Urban Village, but we had an all-church meeting in January and Cindy came up to me afterward and said, “This will work.” Then we had a potluck a few weeks later and as I watched RFUMC and UVC folks intermingle, I thought, “Cindy, you were right. This *will* work.”
I’m grateful for the countless hours Cindy gave to our church and her commitment to our community and the wider church, too. No information has been shared about a service yet, but we will be sure to let you all know. Please keep Roger and the rest of Cindy’s family in your prayers and also for the RFUMC family, too. They have lost a dear, dear friend.
Peace in Christ, Christian
