What do kitchen sink baptisms, well-aimed chanclas, calderos that feed the multitudes, and midnight “mass” at home altars have in common? They reflect the legacy of our abuelas—everyday saints, pillars of faith, and Christ-bearers to all.

During yesterday’s lunchtime conversation, Liza Manjarrez of St. Edward's University Campus Ministry helped us to reflect on the greatest “unofficial” or unrecognized evangelizers in our lives—the women who have accompanied us in this life of faith and ministry, and who have by their presence embodied the messages of the Gospel. Thanks to Liza and all who joined us to consider ways to better serve young Latine peoples in our own ministry settings.
