Sunday's message was for one specific person.

The one who never quit. Never walked away. Did everything right.
And still ended up in a wilderness they didn't choose.

That is not a failure. That is Caleb's story. And Caleb came out of 40 years with every bit of fire he carried in.

Drop your answer in the comments: What's one season you've been calling your failure that might actually be the record of your faithfulness?

Sunday hit different. If you were there, you felt it. If you missed it, everything you need is right here.

"When You're Faithful in the Wrong Season" You stayed faithful. And you still ended up in the wilderness. And the scripture that reveals exactly what God was building in you the whole time.

Here is what is available right now:

⓶ Get the research behind Sunday's message (why Caleb's 40-year wilderness was someone else's fear vote — not his failure, what Numbers 14:24's "different spirit" actually cost Caleb, and what Joshua 14:10–11 reveals about how waiting preserves instead of depletes): https://app.sermonsend.com/sermon/pastorstowers/when-youre-faithful-in-the-wrong-season

This week's practice: Once this week, write the name of the wilderness season you've been calling your failure — then write underneath it: "This was not my failure. This was my faithfulness in someone else's fear."

"When You're Faithful in the Wrong Season," You stayed faithful. And you still ended up in the wilderness. And the scripture that reveals exactly what God was building in you the whole time.

You spent 20-30 years in a season that wasn't about your readiness. It was about someone else's. And you're still standing.

This is for the faithful people. The ones who kept showing up. Who didn't quit. Who never broke. And who quietly wonder if the wait itself was the verdict.

Numbers 14:24 says something simple about Caleb: "My servant Caleb has a different spirit."

Two words. Everything changes. This week we're unpacking what that means for you.

The Wilderness Wasn't Wasted is week 1 of GIVE ME MY MOUNTAIN, a six-week series on what happens when you finally get what God promised.

The second chance already happened.

Now comes the harder part: what do you actually do with it?

This week's email goes back to the one verse most people skip in the Zacchaeus story. Before the dinner ended. Before the feeling could fade. He moved.
This message is for everyone who responded, surrendered, meant it, and then Monday showed up.

You had the Sunday. You responded. You surrendered. You meant every word of it.

And then Monday came.

The same patterns. The same pressure. The same pull back toward who you used to be.

In this message, Pastor Stowers opens the one verse most people skip in the Zacchaeus story, Luke 19:8, and shows what God's people actually do the morning after a second-chance encounter.

This is the bridge message following the 5-week series THE GOD OF THE SECOND CHANCE.

Scripture: Lamentations 3:22–23 | Luke 19:8 | 2 Corinthians 5:17

Big Idea: God gives second chances not so you can feel better, but so you can move differently.

Sunday hit different. If you were there, you felt it. If you missed it, everything you need is right here.

"Stop Waiting Until You're Worthy — Jesus Already Stopped at Your Tree." What would you do if Jesus called your name before you cleaned yourself up? And the scripture that tells us exactly how grace actually works.

Here is what is available right now:

⓶ Get the research behind Sunday's message (the first-century shame of tax collectors, what Jesus's dinner invitation publicly declared in that culture, and why Luke 19 proves grace is the aggressor, not the reward): https://clarencestowers.substack.com

⓷ Start the 5-Day Devotional and take this week's practice deeper: http://app.sermonsend.com/sermon/pastorstowers/you-dont-have-to-clean-up-first

⓸ Read "You Built the Right Life. For the Wrong Version of You" here on Substack: https://clarencestowers.substack.com/p/you-built-the-right-life-for-the?r=1mdzow

This week's practice: Stop performing your way back to God. Let him call you as you are and climb down.

Tag someone who needs to see this. Share the replay. Let's keep the conversation going.

05/17/2026

You stopped showing up. Not because you stopped believing. Because you were not sure Jesus would want you back after what you did.

So you built a plan. Stage one: stop doing the thing. Stage two: make it right. Stage three: come back when you no longer feel like a hypocrite walking in.

Zacchaeus had a plan too. He climbed a tree just to watch from a distance.

And then Jesus stopped. Looked up. Said his name out loud, in front of everyone, before Zacchaeus said a single word of repentance.

That is how grace actually works. It does not wait for your performance. It initiates before you ask.

This week: Stop performing your way back to God. Let him call you as you are. And climb down.

Scripture: Luke 19:1-10 | Romans 5:8 | Ephesians 2:8-9 (NLT)

After you watch, don't rush to the next thing. Take 10 minutes for private worship. No performance. No audience. Just you and God. Let the song be the moment you climb down.

If this message helped you, share it with someone who needs a second chance story.

You stopped coming because something needed to change first.

The drinking. The relationship. The version of you that walked away on purpose.

You told yourself: when I get right, I'll go back.

Zacchaeus said the same thing from a tree.

Jesus didn't wait for him to climb down. He stopped, looked up, and called his name while he was still up there. Still compromised. Still disqualified by everyone watching.

Grace does not wait for you to perform.

Grace is the aggressor.

The Lie That Keeps You From Your Own Life

You've been taught that obedience is the highest virtue. Follow the rules. Do what you're supposed to do. But somewhere along the way, you realized: you've been living someone else's conviction instead of building your own.

Today, Rev. Marcie Stowers-Wilson shares the lessons her mother taught her about the difference between compliance and conviction. And how that difference changes everything.
