Nine minutes in the driveway is where it starts. Today I want you to take twenty.

Phone in another room. No podcast, no list.

Pray Psalm 139:23-24 out loud. Then stay quiet and let it come up.

Write one line: "What surfaced was..."

Don't fix it. Don't post it. Just write it down.

"Be still, and know that I am God!" (Psalm 46:10)

You keep telling people you're fine. You're busy. But underneath the word there's exhaustion, guilt, or a resentment you never put down, and it's jamming everything else.

God already knows what's in there, and He isn't leaving. He's not asking you to fix it before you bring it. He's asking you to stop hiding it.

This week: take one intentional period of rest and notice what surfaces when you slow down.

Fine is what you say when the real answer costs too much time to explain.

This morning I'm taking RECONNECT Week 3 to the word you've been hiding behind. Busy. What's underneath it is heavier, and God already knows what it is.

"Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts." (Psalm 139:23)

You said "fine, busy" eleven times this week.

Be honest. How many times did you say it?

After 30 years of carrying people, I'll tell you what I know. Busy isn't what's wrong with you. It's what you call what's wrong with you.

You're not busy. You're carrying something. And you've carried it so long you forgot you could set it down.

Jesus didn't say, "Try harder." He said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)

You read the Bible every day and can't remember one thing it said. The words didn't go quiet. You started reading them like a page instead of a voice.

God's word is alive and still speaking. It's a lamp for the road you're on this week, not a library you've already finished.

The unanswered email. The outdated website. The call you returned three days late.

You keep apologizing as if every unfinished task says something about your character.

Sometimes it says something about your staffing.

I wrote this for the pastor, nonprofit leader, and small-team builder carrying work the budget never funded.

You still show up. You still serve. You can't remember the last time you talked to God about something real.

Nothing fell apart, so nothing felt wrong. That is the problem.

This week: spend ten quiet minutes with God on three days, phone face down until the ten minutes are done.

Your phone has not dropped below 20 percent in a week. You plug it in at night and check it before your feet hit the floor. Your prayer life went quiet six months ago, and nothing sent you a low battery warning. You didn't quit. You got busy, then tired, then the quiet became normal.

In Week 1 of RECONNECT, Pastor Clarence E. Stowers Jr. walks through John 15, the night before the cross, where Jesus spends His last minutes with His friends on one word: remain. Not produce. Remain. Then Psalm 63, where David reaches for God from dry ground, and James 4, where the first step is small, and God meets it.
