I said when I was in the hospital in August, that I would have a testimony.
My journey began January 2019 when my lung doctor said that I would have to be placed on oxygen, because when I would walk or clean my house I would absolutely fight for breath and my oxygen would fall into the 80's. A CT was performed in February 2019 and she said that I had a large hiatal hernia that was covering my left lung and that was causing my breathing difficulties. She said that she could refer me to a general surgeon and that it would be up to me if I decided to go with the surgery. My primary care doctor had to be the one to refer me because the lung doctor could never get me to someone in network.
August 5th I had the surgery, and it felt good to be able to breathe freely. The surgeon told my husband, aunt and uncle that my stomach was up in my chest and they had to place my stomach back into the right location. In recovery they gave me a drink of soda along with pain medication and I could not keep it down. They moved me from recovery to the trauma unit on the 9th floor. I went from Monday, August 5th through Thursday August 8th with not being able to keep anything down. On Thursday they decided place a feeding tube in me so that I could start getting nutrition into my body. I also had an embolism during this time, and thank God I survived yet another blood clot. I did good up until Saturday, August 8th when the feeding tube came out and once again I could not eat or drink anything and keep it down. Doctor came in on Sunday and said Deborah we have got to do another CT scan and place another feeding tube in due to not being able to keep anything down. CT scan showed swelling and inflammation which is normal for this type of surgery. Then they put the dreaded feeding tube in once again.
I was told by one of the nurses that everyone on the floor was concerned about me and said that I was worse then any other patient in the trauma unit.
I really felt like that I was dying during this time. Every day day I would quote: I shall live and not die and declare the works of the Lord.
My surgeon went on vacation on the 6th of August and returned on the 13th of August. I will say I had a great group of doctors during his time on vacation. I was told that I was the talk of the hospital with the head physician. Surgeon returned on August 13th and said Deborah I have done this type of surgery for years but he had never had a patient in my condition. I went back into surgery on August 13th, with the surgeon loosening a small stitch around the esophagus. The surgeon was concerned because he did not want the bands to become loose. Thankfully through prayers everything stayed in place.
After the 2nd surgery on August 13th, I was able to keep everything down. August 14th I was discharged from the hospital.
I can walk up a hill or just walk, and clean my house without getting out of breath. Before the surgery, I could not walk up my drive way to the mail box, or clean my house without getting out of breath.
THERE'S STILL TIME FOR A MIRACLE!!
