The members and friends of PLUUF have been making the most of summer with fun off-site adventures instead of our usual on-site programming!
We’ve enjoyed some amazing hikes, and yesterday brought a particularly special morning on the water. Brad & Nicole Roost led a wonderful boating and ecology adventure, combining time outdoors, learning, and plenty of summer fun. 🌊🦆
And we’re not done yet! Our next off-site adventure is kayaking. 🛶

Walk and Explore the Spaulding Hill Wetlands Conservancy

When: Sunday, July 19, 9:00AM sharp
Where: 5751 Spaulding hill Road, Ripon

Pat Dobrinska will lead this leisurely walk along the trail loop. This hike offers peaceful, open views of the Sunnyside wetland shoreline and surrounding woodland. We welcome children and adults to join us to explore the 1.5 miles of hiking trails that serve as a scenic low-impact recreational habitat.

Where to meet: Pull into the driveway at the above address and park your car. Pat will be waiting for you. If you're running late and the group is already on the trail, go ahead and start following the path and you will find them.

What to bring: A water bottle and comfortable walking shoes.

Thank you to Linda DeCramer for leading today's Worship Service at Prairie Lakes, "Children’s Books & UU Values."

What can children’s books teach us about kindness, inclusion, justice, and respect?

In this inspiring presentation, Linda explored how stories for young readers can beautifully bring Unitarian Universalist values to life. Through excerpts and reflections drawn from literature across all age groups, she showed how books can spark empathy, thoughtful conversations, and deeper connection, not only for children, but for readers at every stage of life.

This service offered something meaningful for everyone and we are grateful. We are also grateful to Spud for picking a vibrant and fragrant bouquet of flowers from his beautiful garden to share with the congregation❤️.

Wow, what a weekend! Yesterday was our Prairie Lakes Adopt-A-Highway cleanup day and today was a guided hike in South Woods led by Pat Dobrinska. We're very thankful to the individuals who joined the hike. The rain transformed the trails into a shimmering landscape, where every leaf and plant species glistened with droplets while the group identified 16 different plant species.

Huge thanks to the Shikoskis, the Salzbergs, and Jim for helping make the Prairie Lakes Adopt-A-Highway cleanup a big success this morning! 👏🗑️
The crew put in the work and made a real difference. Here’s the best part: there was LESS litter this year! 🎉 The grand total was “just” 4 bags collected. We’re calling that a win for our roads, our community, and Mother Nature. 🌎💚
