Congratulations, Beth Miller!

Friday at Annual Conference, one item of business came as a total surprise for the members present from Epworth UMC.

Each year the Conference presents awards to churches and individuals that share their faith and values in service to God, the Church and community.

The first and most prestigious award presented this year was the 2026 Laity Award Winner presented by the ecumenical "Foundation for Evangelism". This award and grant were presented to Beth Miller of Epworth UMC, Ripley. The award was accepted on Beth's behalf by Nine Rivers District Superintendent, Lauren Godwin.

Beth was also the recipient of the denominational award. This award is presented to Beth as an Outstanding Layperson: Honoring dedicated church members active in community or church leadership.

On Sunday, June 13th Beth was presented with these awards during worship service. She was also presented with a United Women in Faith, Special Recognition Award and lapel pin for here years of service to the church and community. Sunday morning gave all of the congregation an opportunity to show our love and appreciation for all the Beth does in service of her faith, church and community.

Beth has a rare ability to pull a team together to achieve whatever she puts her mind to.

Along with a core group of friends, Beth has organized Epworth's VBS for more than 25 years. She and her "posse" have organized youth bible studies, a local faith-based youth soccer league, and most recently Epworth's "Messy Church" ministry.

Beth when you talk to her is very humble about all that she has achieved for our church. She is quick to tell you that "Epworth is thriving and it's not me. It's all the volunteers that surround me that are so quick to help. We received an awesome Grant because of this award and that is being put back into the Messy Church program at Epworth."

There is only one thing that Beth is not humble about and that is her desire to proclaim far and wide her faith and love of God.

It is a blessed day at the WV Annual Conference filled with prayer, fellowship, love and joy.
This morning we witness the fruits of our faith as the Bishop and Elders lead us in a service of Licensing, Commissioning and Ordination.

During this service there will be two baptisms as well.

The service will start at 9:30am. as the clergy process into the chapel.
