It's been a long time to get to this point. After salvaging, milling, air drying for 2 years, then flattening, & sanding the slabs, I have been trying to learn the art of French polishing for the finish on these pieces.
Pictures are of the finish on the bottom side of the slab. I thought I would start there to see how I could do at attempting a French polish finish. It's coming along pretty sweet.
I will keep you posted with pics of the top side when I get there.

Black Walnut slabs milled to 2" thick.
These were cut in July of 2017.
They have been air dried and are @ 18%
moisture content.
Chainsaw cut in trunk from removal attempt by others.

This one is made from Mesquite aka ironwood.

We found and recovered this log the other day.
It is black walnut and we milled it to 3" thick.

This is some beautiful Sequioa Redwood that got milled into slabs a few weeks ago. Stickers or small pieces of wood are placed between the slabs to allow air flow which is needed in the drying process. You can see why it's called Redwood.
