As we enter a new year, often thinking up goals and resolutions comes to the top of our minds. We couldn't help thinking about some of our garden New Years Resolutions ourselves, especially after reading this lovely poem by Mary Oliver called THE GARDENER:
The Gardener
Have I lived enough?
Have I loved enough?
Have I considered Right Action enough, have I
come to any conclusions?
Have I experienced happiness with sufficient gratitude?
Have I endured loneliness with grace?
I say this, or perhaps I’m just thinking it.
Actually, I probably think too much.
Then I step out into the garden,
where the gardener, who is said to be a simple man,
is tending his children, the roses.

This year, here are some of The Herb Society of America's garden/herb-related New Years resolutions:
– Betsy Smith, VP of the Board of Directors: I want to learn everything I can about growing and using ginger!
– Karen Kennedy, Education Coordinator: My garden resolution for 2023 is to play more with my plants! I'm looking forward to creating a new fairy garden and spending more time creating with my herbal harvest.
– Kateri Kramer, Social Media Coordinator: This is the first year I'll have a garden to do whatever I want with! My goal is to grow some herbs, vegetables, and flowers, I was never able to grow in containers before.
– Laura Mullen, Board of Directors Treasurer: I resolve to start my seeds on time this year!
