What a long winter.
After Code Blue days stretched all the way into April, these last couple of weeks of warm weather — and Memorial Day weekend right around the corner — finally make it feel like summer is on its way.
As we move into a new season, The Branches Outreach would like to sincerely thank everyone who supported our Warmth for Winter Campaign this year.
Whether you donated food, warm clothing, hygiene items, sponsored extended Code Blue hours, volunteered your time, or made a financial contribution — thank you. Because of this community, our doors stayed open on some of the coldest days of the year.
This Code Blue season, The Branches extended operating hours from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on 63 different days to make sure individuals experiencing homelessness and hardship had somewhere warm and safe to go.
From October through April, there were over 7,000 visits to our center and more than 10,000 meals served. Behind those numbers are people who came in cold, exhausted, hungry, overwhelmed, or simply needing somewhere to sit safely for a few hours with a cup of coffee and someone willing to listen.
Through the generosity of this community, nearly $35,000 was raised during our Warmth for Winter Campaign to help make that possible.
A special thank you to our major sponsors and supporters. These donations were earmarked specifically as sponsorships for our Warmth for Winter Campaign and helped cover costs associated with our extended code blue hours. 🩵
