Pictured is Patti Gerew from Messiah Lutheran Church and our very own Juan Torres. Juan was on hand this morning to help carry all of the amazing blessing bags that Patti delivered. They were made by the good folks at Messiah who have been long time supporters of our mission at Branches. Many, many thanks. We are very grateful!

The 2026 Ladies Golf Season may have come to a close, but the generosity of the Union League Ladies Golf community is helping make an impact right here in Cape May County.

Through their Ladies Closing Charity Day, the Union League raised an incredible $5,100 for The Branches Outreach, along with a “van-full” of generously donated food and personal care items for the people and families we serve.

This is what community looks like. It’s people coming together, having fun, and finding a way to turn a day on the golf course into meaningful support for their neighbors.

And a very special thank you to Jean Kane for her incredible enthusiasm and determination in making this fundraiser happen. Your passion for giving back truly made a difference!

To the entire Union League Ladies Golf community: thank you for choosing The Branches and for investing in our community. Your generosity will go directly toward helping our neighbors meet basic needs and navigate difficult seasons of life.

The good news is, the Food Pantry will be open this evening, 9/2 from 4PM-6PM. Even better, the Food Pantry be open will be open every Wednesday during these hours, in addition to our morning hours from 9-12 moving forward.

What happens when a community comes together with a little music, a lot of heart, and a shared belief that everyone deserves to feel supported?

This.

Music with a Mission has officially come and gone, and we are still feeling incredibly grateful for the day we shared with our community.

We lucked out with absolutely beautiful weather, welcomed some truly unique vendors, enjoyed incredible music, and—most importantly—were blown away by the response from the people who came out to support The Branches Outreach.

This one-day event took months of planning, countless conversations, dozens of moving pieces, and an incredible amount of work behind the scenes.

And every minute was worth it.

Together, our community raised nearly $5,000 to help our neighbors in need.

That number isn't just a number.

It means breakfasts. Lunches. Showers. Personal care items. Emergency assistance. Resources. A helping hand when someone needs it most.

It means being able to look at someone who is going through an incredibly difficult chapter and say:

“You matter. You're part of this community, and we're here for you.”

And that's really what we hope people take away from events like Music with a Mission.

Because when you support The Branches Outreach, you're not simply giving to a cause. You're investing in your neighbors.
You're strengthening your community.
You're helping create a place where people can find dignity, compassion, and a path forward.

And while we're incredibly proud of what this community accomplished, we're already looking forward to making Music with a Mission bigger, stronger, and even more impactful next year.

A very special shoutout to the incredible crew at Stowaways at the Ferry Terminal for being so welcoming, accommodating, and wonderful to work with. We are so grateful for you!

We also want to recognize:

Brandon Smith
Maddie Hogan Band
Don Shough Trio
The Band Maintenance
MQ Murphy
Lew London
Anne Walsh

And to every volunteer who gave their time, energy, and heart to make this day happen, thank you doesn't quite seem like enough.
You helped make the mission visible.
We'll see you next year. And we're just getting started.

Yesterday was International Overdose Awareness Day, a day dedicated to remembering those we have lost to overdose, supporting those affected by substance use, and recognizing the people working every day to make recovery possible.

So today, we want to share a little more about how The Branches Outreach represented the meaning behind Overdose Awareness Day. Last Wednesday, The Branches Outreach was honored to be recognized by Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional CARES, the National Center for Advocacy and Recovery for Behavioral Health (NCAAR), and the Cape May County Board of County Commissioners at the Cape May County Overdose Awareness event.

This photo represents the wonderful organizations that provide free Narcan, wellness promotion, recovery, and harm reduction.

Our Philosophy (worth the long read) :

You cannot save someone. But you can refuse to give up on them.
That philosophy is at the heart of the work being done at The Branches.

We have the privilege of walking alongside people during some of the hardest moments of their lives...whether it's people struggling with substance use, people beginning recovery, people returning to recovery, or people simply trying to make it through another day.

The Branches believes that recovery is possible, every life has value, and no one should be defined by the hardest chapter of their story.

The role of an organization like The Branches is not to determine when someone is ready to change or dictate what their journey should look like. It is to meet people where they are, without judgment, and provide dignity, respect, compassion, and a door that remains open.

Sometimes that means connecting someone with treatment.
Sometimes it means recovery support or sober living.
Sometimes it means a meal, a shower, an identification card, transportation, a conversation, or simply having someone there to say:

“We’re still here when you’re ready.”

Overdose Awareness events like this serve as an important reminder of the lives lost, the families and friends who continue to carry those losses, and the incredible courage of the people who are still here.

The Branches Outreach is deeply grateful to its staff, volunteers, community partners, and supporters who continue to show up for people throughout Cape May County.

The organization is also grateful to the individuals who have trusted The Branches enough to allow its team into some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

Today and everyday, we remember those who did not get the chance to see recovery.

And for every person who is still here, The Branches will continue to stand firmly behind a message that guides this work every day:

Recovery is possible.

A great big “Thank You” from Branches Food Pantry for some very special donations….
Eckhert Farm in Tabernacle for the beautiful fresh produce
Stone Circle Farm also for beautiful fresh produce
Sonny, we are unsure of your last name, but want to thank you for your very big donation of food items
We are so grateful for donations such as these during such difficult times for so many. To have fresh produce is a bonus, always. Keeping our shelves stocked is a challenge and so any and all donations of food items helps us keep pace with the need!
