Yesterday in sunday school we have made our way to the divided kingdom...we learned to see that because of sin and pride, God’s chosen people created a devastating rift among themselves. We learned that SUBMITTING to Jesus brings freedom, not oppression. Finally we defined what it looks like to bring our burdens to Jesus and to live under His yoke.

Paul starts Romans by declaring that the gospel is “the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.” Last night we explored what the gospel is and WHY it’s such good news. We were encouraged to reflect on how the gospel has impacted our lives and WHY it has the power to save. Last night set the foundation for understanding the rest of our series this month.

This week in SS, we studied the rise and fall of Solomon! We saw how Solomon’s rise was tied to God’s blessing, and his fall was tied to his sinfulness. We came to understand that our motivation for obeying God should be out of our love for Him, and we looked at our own attitudes and motivations toward obedience.

This week in Sunday School, we strived to understand that the Psalms are creative expressions of a multitude of emotions written by God’s people, and also that Jesus is the Perfect Shepherd who, out of His great love for His children, rescued us once-and-for-all.
Finally we committed to being more mindful of God’s provision in our lives. Use these devotions this week to continue learning and growing your habit of bible discipline!
