TITLE: FALSE KNOWLEDGE

TEXT: 1ST TIMOTHY 6: 13-21

(1) - WHAT IS FALSE KNOWLEDGE? The King James Bible uses the word “science” The Greek word is γνῶσις gnosis 1) knowledge signifies in general intelligence, understanding

1a) the general knowledge of Christian religion
1b) the deeper more perfect and enlarged knowledge of this normal religion, such as belongs to the more advanced
1c) of things lawful and unlawful for Christians
1d) moral wisdom, such as is seen in right living”

The object of this teaching is that the Christian is to steer clear of anything which is in opposition to the word of GOD. Since ancient times, people of education has presented teachings which were in opposition with the word of GOD. This Greek word gnosis is where we get the teachings of Gnosticism. It began with the idea that salvation comes from some secret knowledge. Many if not most Gnostics did not believe in the physical incarnation of Jesus Christ. They did not believe that true divinity could be trapped in an evil body of flesh. There is much scientific knowledge (theories) which goes directly against the word of GOD. Many of these teachers have even come up with ways to incorporate the word of GOD into their false teaching. Let’s look at one of these passages where false science (knowledge) is used to mislead using the word of GOD.

2ND Peter 3 : 1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; I stir up your pure minds in both which by way of remembrance:
2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Notice the instructions we are given in this passage. We are to have a pure mind –

Romans 12 : 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

By developing the mind of Christ which we have from the moment of salvation. We have the mind of Christ - it’s in the book - you can read it. The next thing we see of note is that we are not to be willingly ignorant. We are not to ignore the truth of GOD’S word and Peter reminds us of a major truth in GOD’S word, which millions deny to this day - the worldwide flood. The next point is a biggie - creation days was thousands of years. We omit common sense understanding of the word. We forget that we are to rightly divide the word. Read all the accounts of creation days - Genesis 1 and 2.

Exodus 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day and hallowed it. It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed

Genesis 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3 And God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

So not only does man pervert the truth of creation, but we also forget to take time to worship and dwell on the GOD of creation. We even pervert the sabbath - Mark 2:27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: 28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

We have those who teach that we must observe the seventh day sabbath - they ignore the instructions to the church about coming together on the first day of the week.

Acts 20:7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight. There is much untruths spouted using quotes from the word of GOD. It is evident that a major portion of the church does not rightly divide the word. They spend too much time developing false science (knowledge) to mislead the church and the world at large. It is evident that many, so called, Christians have little to no intent to pattern their lives after Christ. Without going into a lot of detail, all false science (knowledge) comes from demon led people. This false science (knowledge) is fed to weak, lazy, ignorant Christians. It seems that the world has become more important, to most people, than becoming a spirit filled, spirit led child of GOD. Rather than allowing the church to minister to the needs of the community, people take what goes to GOD to give to other needs which make them feel good about themselves. As they choose to serve themselves their own pleasures, they ignore gathering to together to worship and grow in knowledge and grace. We tend to ignore or choose to change the basic teachings of GOD’S word. Some do not believe in tithing, and this is fine as there is no New Testament command for the Church to tithe. We tend to not remember that Abraham tithed to Melchizedek before there was even a law of tithing in Genesis 14: 18 - 20. He did this to honor and worship a Priest/King. In Genesis 28 : 20 - 22 Jacob vows to a tenth to GOD. These two incidents were before there was law of tithing was instituted by GOD. The tithe law was instituted by GOD recorded in Leviticus 27 30 - 32. Moreover, we seem to have no Idea what the purpose of the tithe was and is. It was and is to be for the Levites who had no land inheritance. It was and is for their Temple service. There is also two other tithes to be given. Number two was and is for festival usage. The third was and is to be used for storing up for the poor, Levites, Orphans, and widows.

Leviticus 27:30–32 – Declares the tithe as “holy to the Lord” and part of the inheritance for the Levites, who had no land allotment mytithecalculator.com+1.

Numbers 18:21–24 – Explains that the Levites receive the tithes in place of land inheritance for their service in the Tabernacle and later the Temple Bible Hub.

Deuteronomy 14:22–27 – Commands the second tithe to be used for annual festivals in the Lord’s presence Bible Hub.

Deuteronomy 14:28–29 – Requires a third tithe every three years to be stored and given to the poor, Levites, foreigners, orphans, and widows Bible Hub.
We understand that the tithe was for the ministry of the tabernacle and those who served those ministries. The tithe was also for taking care of widows and orphans - WHOOPS - what does this say about the church? The church is charged with the care of the widowed and the orphan in the letter to Timothy. Jesus emphasized stewardship over tithing – 2nd Corinthians 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

So, with the giving as a man purposes in his heart opposed to tithing - what do you do. How do we support the ministries provided by the Church? Have you ever come to the church for help and the Church could not offer anything in financial assistance? Have you ever given to the family down the street while the church suffers the misfortune of not being able to even pay the pastor? The Church has to turn people away for lack of funds? Have you ever become disgruntled or disillusioned because the Church did not do what you thought it should? Remember the words of the old testament Prophet Haggai:

(2) WHO EFFECTS ALL YOU HAVE?:

Haggai 1 : 1 ¶ In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying,
2 Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD’S house should be built.
3 Then came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,
4 Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your ceiled houses, and this house lie waste? 5 Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
6 Ye have sown much and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.
7 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
8 Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD.
9 Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.

So, while we are living our own lives - dissatisfied with the Church how is that working for us?

Meanwhile, my GOD who never changes still says the same thing - my GOD who cannot lie and never changes still issues the same charge to HIS people :
Malachi 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

In this message we have not even mentioned abortion, homosexuality, evolution, nor many other sources of false science (knowledge). The truth as we see from GOD’S massage today comes from Christians (?) choosing to vacate the word of GOD.
Tithes or cheerful gifts what are you doing with what GOD has blessed you with. What are you doing with what belongs to GOD?

James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

TITLE: LACK OF KNOWLEDGE AND WISDOM

TEXT: PROVERBS 29: 15-23

(1) - WHAT DO WE REALLY KNOW?: Millions of people rely on things they have heard about scriptural teachings. Many, if not most, think that all religions are equally valid as being of GOD. They think that religion is only a matter of personal choice. Many reject some teaching of the Bible, they think the Bible is an old manuscript which is out of touch with modern man. When presented with prophetical events being fulfilled - they say it’s a coincidence. Many people believe that Nostradamus is equal in prophecy accuracy as the Bible. This follows along with satan’s plan as he has worked to bring doubt and confusion into not just the world but in the Church. Satan brought doubt and confusion into the world with Adam and Eve. Pastors all around the world come under attack when preaching the truth of GOD’S word. So many Church members have their own understanding of scripture. So many Church members seem to think that GOD will make allowance for them and their family and friends - GOD will never change the truth of HIS word - believe it or not the choice is ours to make.

Hebrews 6:18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: From the dictionary of Theology, we see this definition of immutable:
Immutability - The divine attribute of unchangeableness. God said in, Exodus 3:14 "I AM that I AM," signifying His eternal sameness and His sovereignty. He cannot change His moral character, His love, His omniscience, omnipresence, omnipotence, etc. God is "From everlasting to everlasting,". Psalm 90:2 Immutability does not mean that God does not vary. The incarnation is just such an example of variation. Also, God’s attitude toward a person is changed when the person becomes a Christian. For example, the enmity between God and man is removed. Romans 5:10

In a passage in James, we see the distinction more clearly between immutability and variableness: James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. variableness - par-al-lag-ay’ 1) variation, change - immutable - am-et-ath’-et-os 1) not transposed, not to be transferred, fixed, unalterable

In usage and context, we can see the difference. GOD is willing to change HIS action, but not HIS nature. In the passage Romans 12: 2 we see a similar comparison - “be not conformed” be ye transformed” both words deal with the character of man. We are to allow GOD by HIS Spirit to change our natural character to the Spiritual character of Jesus Christ. The natural character and the Spiritual character is (again) clearly described in Paul’s letter to the Corinthians. I say again to emphasize that study is essential to knowledge and wisdom from GOD’S word. Let’s read these verses:

1st Corinthians 2:13 – 1st Corinthians 3:3 - 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

1 ¶ And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

The average Christian or Church member will spend very little time considering the things of GOD or the word of GOD. The point Paul made with this passage is just that. We tend to get so involved inlining our lives our way, we leave GOD out - until we need something like a miracle - health, financial, relationship, and sometimes not even then. We tend to seek help from carnal sources. If we examine the crises throughout history, we will find that they all come out of mankind ignoring or denying the word of GOD. If you cannot see this then you have become near sighted or Spiritually blinded as prescribed in GOD’S word.

2nd Peter 1: 4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature (Spiritual character), having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust (natural character).
5 ¶ And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

As we study and seek to develop the gifts of the Spirit, we become more like Christ. As we seek to be transformed into Christlikeness, the natural result is just that. We come closer in our walk, we have fewer problems and crisis’s in our lives. Any situations becomes easier to navigate. A more peaceful mind for facing any crisis for the believer who is seeking first the Kingdom of GOD and HIS righteousness. An important question we must resolve at this time is this - how serious are we in our commitment to Jesus Christ.

(2) - HOW SERIOUS ARE WE?: Genesis 6 : 1 ¶ And it came to pass when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
3 ¶ And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
4 ¶ There were giants in the earth in those days; and also, after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
6 ¶ And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
8 ¶ But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

Noah was about 480 years old at this time. As we read into the rest of the account, we see that Noah did as GOD instructed and the entire population of the earth - except Noah, his wife, his three sons and their wives - was destroyed. Male and female of every species was boarded on the ark. Noah was instructed to take seven pairs of clean beast for food and necessities chapter 7 : 1 - 4. Noah was 600 years old as the flood waters began to fall. Noah was serious about his commitment to GOD’S command, and it benefited him and his entire family.

In 2nd Samuel chapter 12 - king David is confronted with his own sinfulness and GOD told him the sword would never leave his house. Sincerity came upon king David. In Psalms 51 - king David found renewed commitment to GOD’S law. He confessed his sin and vowed to live and teach the word of GOD to all people. The new testament apostles commitment to living Christ before the world as they were all imprisoned, killed by crucifixion, and other forms of torture. History is full of accounts where Christians were slaughtered in the colosseums of Rome - many times they died as they praised GOD with their dying breath. Jesus suffered torture, beating, humiliation, mocking and paraded half naked in the street. Jesus willingly suffer all these things for His commitment to the will of the FATHER.

Philippians. 2 : 1 ¶ If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,
2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord of one mind.
3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. 5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

Verse 18 of today’s text tells us that when the voice of GOD is not used, people perish. This word perish means to become useless, of no effect. When we cease listening to GOD - cease studying the word of GOD we do become spiritually blind, as we are reminded in 1st Peter 1 : 8 we become blind and cannot remember that GOD saved us from the wrath to come. But for the grace of GOD, we all fall victim to this blindness.

When we ignore the word of GOD we all are subject to this spiritual blindness. Is this what we want- is this what we are working for? Is this where we want to lead out families -our children - our grandchildren? As always - the choice is ours. We can come back to Christ- come back to worship as GOD desires us to - or we can slumber around in the world moving from one crisis to the next. GOD invites us all to come back.
