JustServe Highway Cleanup Project Commemorates Global Youth Service Day
REXBURG—Global service organization, JustServe, has partnered with the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) and city governments across Madison, Jefferson, and Fremont Counties to organize a large-scale highway clean-up project on Saturday, May 3. The project commemorates the 37th Global Youth Service Day, the longest-running annual youth participation event in the world. All residents who live in the four counties are invited to participate in the project. To find the clean-up location closest to you, visit justserve.org
Volunteers will meet at hubs from 8:00- 8:30 a.m. to pick up bags, vests, sign liability wavers, and receive mile post marker assignments along Highway 20, 33 and 48. The road clean-up will then take place from 8:30-10:00 a.m. Volunteers will then return to the hubs to turn in vests and tools. Participants should wear bright clothing, bring gloves, friends, & your family! Anyone over five years of age is welcome to participate (All children under 18 are required to have a waiver signed by parent.)
Idaho Department of Transportation personnel will come pick up the full bags from the roadside following the cleanup. Municipal law enforcement agencies will assist in providing safety measures.
In 2024, JustServe managed to gather hundreds of local volunteers across the four-county area to clean up the roadsides. To recognize JustServe for its efforts, ITD presented Just Serve of Rexburg as ITD District 6’s Adopt-a-Highway Group of the Year for 2024.
News media are invited to cover the highway clean-up projects and highlight the good works of youth in their communities.
