Archdiocese Championship Meet Highlights โ Race Edition ๐
Simply qualifying for this meet is an accomplishment in itself, and our St. Madeline athletes represented with tremendous effort, sportsmanship, and determination.
Maeve McManus made her second consecutive Championship Meet appearance in the 800m and capped off her CYO track career with a personal best time of 2:39.18.
Novice standout Mason Dougherty delivered one of the most exciting performances of the day, slicing nine seconds off his previous 800m best. Seeded 19th entering the meet, Mason battled his way to a remarkable 9th-place finish.
In the Minor Boys 400m, both Christian and Alex turned in personal-best performances, continuing their season-long growth and hard work throughout the season.
The Minor Boys 4x100 relay team of Billy, Alex, Grayson, and Christian raced to a season-best time and an impressive 8th-place finish against the Archdiocese's top competition.
The Cadet Girls 4x100 relay team of Maeve, Arianna, Fatu, and Mae entered the meet seeded 11th but put together a tremendous race to finish 7th. The quartet knocked more than a second off their previous season best and lowered their relay time by over four seconds during the season.
The meet also marked the final races for eighth graders Maeve, Arianna, and Fatu. We thank them for their dedication to the program and for the friendships, memories, and bonds they helped create throughout their years with St. Mads.
And last but not least, Mae Somers delivered a performance worthy of the championship stage, earning a 2nd-place medal in the Cadet Girls 1600m with a personal-best time of 5:29.15. Her runner-up finish capped an outstanding season and highlighted a tremendous day for St. Madeline.
Congratulations to all of our championship qualifiers on an outstanding season. Thank you to our coaches and families for the countless hours of support that make these opportunities possible. We are proud of every athlete who wore the St. Madeline uniform this season and honored so many qualified to compete among the best in the Archdiocese.
