Wondering when to watch for white smoke?
On the first day of the Conclave (Wednesday, May 7), there will be just one round of voting. The first smoke signal is likely to come between 7:45 to 8:15 p.m. Rome Time (1:45 to 2:15 p.m. EDT) — white smoke if a Pope has been elected, or black smoke if not.

On the following days, the cardinals may vote up to four times each day — twice in the morning and twice in the afternoon — but the ballots are burned at most twice daily.

The first smoke signal could be seen around at 10:30 a.m. Rome time (4:30 a.m. EDT) if a Pope has been elected (white smoke). If not, a second round of voting is conducted and the smoke signal (black or white smoke) could come closer to Noon (6:00 a.m. EDT) when two rounds of ballots would be burned together.

Similarly, if a Pope is elected during the first ballot of the afternoon, a smoke signal (white smoke) could be seen around 5:30 p.m. (11:30 a.m. EDT). If not, another round of voting is held and the smoke signal (black or white smoke) could come round 7:00 p.m. (1:00 p.m. EDT), when two rounds of ballots would be burned together.

So, if you see smoke early, it’s likely white — signaling a new pope has been elected.

An Easter Message from Supreme Knight Patrick E. Kelly

Dear Brother Knights:

Christ is Risen! Alleluia!

Together with all the Supreme Officers, I wanted to take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a most blessed Easter.

Easter is the culmination of the liturgical year and takes on special meaning in this Jubilee Year dedicated to hope. Indeed, in his message convoking the Jubilee Year, Pope Francis wrote, “The death and resurrection of Jesus is the heart of our faith and the basis of our hope” (Spes non confundit, 20).

The Easter season during the Jubilee Year is therefore a time of ultimate hope, no matter where we may be as pilgrims in life’s often tumultuous journey. Christ has conquered sin and death and opened the gates of Heaven. This was the Good News of the first Easter, and it is the same eternal message the Church announces today. Our challenge as Catholic men and as Knights of Columbus is to embrace this Good News in our own lives, within our own families, and to bring the message of joy and hope to everyone we meet.

May our Risen Lord bless you and your loved ones this Easter and always, and may we go forth as pilgrims of hope, joyfully announcing that Jesus lives.

Vivat Jesus!

ENG:
He is Risen! Alleluia!

On this glorious Easter Sunday, we rejoice in the victory of Jesus Christ over sin and death.

As Knights of Columbus, we are men of the Resurrection — men of hope, service, and sacrificial love. Today we celebrate the triumph of life, and we renew our mission to bring the light of Christ to our families, parishes, and communities.

“He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said.”
-Matthew 28:6

From all of us at the Knights of Columbus: Happy Easter! May the joy of the Risen Lord fill your heart and home.

ESP:
¡Ha resucitado! ¡Aleluya!

Dziś celebrujemy triumf życia i odnawiamy naszą misję niesienia światła Chrystusa naszym rodzinom, parafiom i wspólnotom.

Niech radość Zmartwychwstałego Pana wypełni Wasze serca i domy.
