The Unitarian Society of Ridgewood A Unitarian Universalist congregation at 113 Cottage Pl. in Ridgewood, NJ. Visitors are always welcome!

Every Sunday at 10am, we get together for Sunday service to celebrate in community – always on Zoom, and when conditions permit, also in person. We also have an excellent religious education program for children and youth, and many educational, spiritual, and social activities for adults. This is a Safe Congregation where practices and procedures serve to ensure all members, friends, adults, child

ren and youth are treated with respect and protected from harassment and abuse. We have been a Welcoming Congregation since 1998, supporting the rights of bisexual, gay, le***an and transgender people. Contemporary Tarot Art & Cards from the Collection of Bill & Carol Wolf

Background:
Tarot cards first appeared in Italy in the mid-15th century, when a special suit of pictorial "triumphs" was added to a standard deck of playing cards. They were initially used only for playing a variety of trick-taking games that are similar to modern Bridge. The game was very popular, and spread throughout Europe. Current evidence suggests that in the 18th century people also began to use them for divination. Since then, many fine artists have been inspired by the archetypal imagery found within the traditional pack of cards to create their own interpretations. The examples on display in the Cottage Place Gallery now through September 22nd are pulled from sets of limited edition artists’ prints, portfolios, books and handmade tarot decks that were made in the last 60 years, plus two historical decks for context.

Member spotlight!

Recently our former Board President and frequent lay service leader Jack Lohr participated in Citizens' Climate Lobby! Volunteers and staff wrapped up the 2026 Summer Conference and Lobby Day in D.C., with around 850 CCLers in attendance from all 50 states. At the conference, they had lobby preparations and programming, including hearing from keynote speaker Jigar Shah. Then more than 400 meetings with congressional offices on Capitol Hill. Finally, bipartisan permitting reform occurred to unlock America's clean energy potential, climate-friendly forestry policy, and funding for the U.S. Forest Service.

Our members are so involved in so many initiatives. We love the vital energy they bring to the community.
