Courageous Sacrifice for Freedom
Romans 13:7 (NIV®)
Give to everyone what you owe them. … if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.
The liberties, abundance, and opportunities that define our lives are a direct result of God’s blessings. But they have not appeared without human cost and loss; they also represent the tremendous sacrifices made by those who have pledged to protect and defend our nation. One of the things I have come to understand is that every generation must make a choice for themselves. We have to decide if we will stand for liberty, freedom, and righteousness. We may have inherited those things, but they will not be extended to our children and grandchildren unless we, as a generation, commit ourselves to pursue and defend them. Many voices tell us it’s not fashionable to love and serve our nation. I could not disagree more. I believe it is a privilege to call myself an American. I am grateful for the rights and liberties that come with being a citizen of this nation, and I intend to use my life and my voice to uphold and protect them and our Christian foundations. I also believe we have a responsibility to respect and honor those who serve—especially those who have given their lives so we can know freedom.
THINK ABOUT IT
The men and women who serve and sacrifice on our nation’s behalf are the very backbone of our liberties and freedoms. On this Memorial Day, take a moment to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, thank God for their lives and their willingness to serve, and pray for their families.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for the generations of people who have served with the kind of courage that allowed freedom and liberty to be extended to us. Thank You, especially, for those who gave their lives that we might be free. We ask for Your peace and blessings upon their families. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Blessings,
