"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." 📖

This phrase from Lamentations 3 provided the basis for the poem by Thomas Obediah Chisholm which would become the hymn "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" (no. 140 in The United Methodist Hymnal). As a whole, the hymn serves to remind us that God's love is unchanging--even when the world around us feels unstable.

🎵 "Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine and ten thousand beside."

Music often provides reminders of God's presence with us. Is there something else that has reminded you of God's unchanging presence lately? 🤔

"What Does the Lord Require" (no. 441 in The United Methodist Hymnal) is perhaps the best-known hymn of Albert Frederick Bayly. It is based on the familiar scripture passage of Micah 6:6-8.

“What does the Lord require for praise and offering?
What does the Lord require for blessing and peace?”

In its questioning, the hymn reminds us that faith is lived not only in words or worship, but in action.

💭 How is God inviting you to live out justice, kindness, or humility this week?
