Merry Christmas from Highlands! Today the Advent season ends. We wait no longer. That great event for which we waited has happened. God's promise of a Redeemer is fulfilled. Christ Jesus is born!

Last night at Highlands' beautiful Christmas Eve Worship service, Mason and Kathryn Mann lit the final candle on the Advent wreath, the Christ candle. We praise our God who brings joy to the world. From Luke 2 we read:
And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

Join us TONIGHT at 4:30 PM for our candlelight service as we fill the sanctuary with the sounds of Christmas and celebrate the birth of our Savior. We will finish our Advent Series, "THE BRIGHTNESS OF THE DAWN" with Rev. Bradford Mercer preaching on "The Glory Shining on Christmas” from Luke 1:46-55.

Invite family and friends to reflect, worship, and rejoice together. Dress is casual and children are welcome! Nursery is provided for children 3 and under. We look forward to worshiping with you!

Three weeks ago at Highlands, we lit the Prophecy candle and remembered those who first spoke the promise of the coming Christ child. Two weeks ago, we lit the Bethlehem candle, a symbol of the preparations being made to receive the Christ child. Last week, we lit the Shepherds' candle, remembering the first in a long line of people who joyfully shared the good news of the Savior's birth.
This past Sunday at Highlands, Barr and Milacey Biggs and their granddaughter, Lotte Curtis lit the fourth candle on the Advent wreath called the Angels' candle. It reminds us of the hope fulfilled in the first coming of our Savior and of our continuing hope as we anticipate His coming again. From John 1 we read:
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."

We also witnessed the sacrament of Holy Baptism with the son of David and Sydney Dye. Welcome child of the Kingdom.

Such a wonderful time of worship and fellowship! If you took family photos, check your email or text for the download link.

We look forward to worshiping together on Christmas Eve at 4:30pm!
