Three weeks ago at Highlands, we lit the Prophecy candle and remembered those who first spoke the promise of the coming Christ child. Two weeks ago, we lit the Bethlehem candle, a symbol of the preparations being made to receive the Christ child. Last week, we lit the Shepherds' candle, remembering the first in a long line of people who joyfully shared the good news of the Savior's birth.
This past Sunday at Highlands, Barr and Milacey Biggs and their granddaughter, Lotte Curtis lit the fourth candle on the Advent wreath called the Angels' candle. It reminds us of the hope fulfilled in the first coming of our Savior and of our continuing hope as we anticipate His coming again. From John 1 we read:
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."
We also witnessed the sacrament of Holy Baptism with the son of David and Sydney Dye. Welcome child of the Kingdom.
Such a wonderful time of worship and fellowship! If you took family photos, check your email or text for the download link.
We look forward to worshiping together on Christmas Eve at 4:30pm!
