St. Francis of Assisi Religious Education

It is with sadness that I announce that as of today, September 15, I will no longer serve as Director of Religious Education at St. Francis. Unfortunately I am no longer happy with the direction or mission of the parish, and it is time for me to move on.

I have been so blessed to work with so many wonderful colleagues and volunteers during the last 15 years. I have seen many changes and growth at St. Francis (especially during my time under the leadership of Fr. Larry). I have truly grown in my faith and love of Christ because of my work here.

This was a very hard decision for me. I will sincerely miss the children's smiles and my weekly interaction with all those involved in faith formation. However, like several of my colleagues before me, my mental health and well-being require me to leave.

As a 30+ year parishioner, it is my hope that the Archdiocese of Newark continues to help move St. Francis in a positive direction. Although we walk through rough waters, our faith should not waver.

Please pray for me as I begin my next chapter, and be assured that you are all in my thoughts and prayers daily.

September is right around the corner! If you have not registered for CCD, there's still time. Please drop off your registration form and payment at the Parish Center (125 Park Street) - mailbox is to the right of the front door. Please remember to add your $25 late fee! If you lost your pre-printed form, please reach out to Celeste Farrell for a new one.

Letters with calendars will go out to families the week of September 18th. Classes are scheduled to begin, Sunday, October 1st (book & parent info pick-up will be on Saturday, September 30th from 12-2pm in the Gym).

Early Bird Re-Registration ended yesterday, 8/15. However, if you register by this Sunday, August 20, we will honor the early bird discount!

Drop off your form and payment at the Parish Center (125 Park Street) during our regular business hours (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm) or in the mailbox to the right of the front door. If you've lost your form or need a form for a new student, contact Celeste Farrell at [email protected] or 201-641-6464.

The plaque for our former Pastor, Fr. Larry, has been unveiled in the Church. Look for it next time you are at Mass (on the wall near the side entrance). A fitting tribute indeed.

Please note that due to air conditioning repair, all Masses beginning on Saturday, July 1st at 5:30pm will take place in the school Gym (please enter on Bergen Avenue). This includes daily Mass at 7:30am Monday through Friday beginning July 3rd. Unfortunately, attendees will need to vacate the building as soon as Mass ends and will not be able to stay to pray the rosary, etc.

We are hoping to be back in the Church by Saturday, July 8th but will update you at the end of that week.
