October report:

3 years ago, at the end of October, my family and I were in southern Brazoria County as guests of Unity Missionary Baptist Church of Richwood. We were seeking God’s will for the next chapter in our ministry journey, and the members of Unity were seeking to act on their own vision to see churches planted along the rapidly growing Highway 288 corridor. That November was a whirlwind of preparation, and by December we were on the field. In the 3 years that have passed, there has been much to report on two different fronts. One is the opportunity for ministry that God has opened up for us. The other is the amount of development that we’ve seen on the 288 corridor.
We had hardly settled into our home in Lake Jackson when God opened doors for us to meet local families and start a Bible study in our home. The husband and dad of one of these families accepted Christ as Savior in our home, and the members of this family became part of the charter membership of the first church to be planted as part of the 288 Church Planting project: Coastal Way Baptist Church. God continues to bless the gathering, worship, and outreach efforts of Coastal Way.
God blessed Amy and I with an abundance of ministry opportunities that we never could have found on our own through the Pregnancy Help Center of Lake Jackson. We began volunteering there in July 2022, and have led 21 young men and women to accept Christ in that time. 9 of those salvations have been in 2024. There are countless more that we have poured into with prayers, parenting classes, Bible studies, and many other conversations about faith and family. This also gave me the opportunity to connect with another pregnancy center in Manvel, and help them to explore starting their own men’s ministry.
For 3 years, every drive from Lake Jackson to Pearland on Highway 288 has given us something new to talk about. Houses being built by the hundreds. Road construction in multiple places to convert the highway into a freeway with multiple overpasses. A grain field that was just harvested last fall is now being excavated for another subdivision that is projected to have over 2,000 homes. The intersection of Highways 288 and 6 that was an empty lot 3 years ago is now a growing shopping center that is anchored by a brand new HEB. God has given us opportunities to be part of the communities along the 288 corridor through local involvement and new relationships in Rosharon, Iowa Colony, Manvel, Pearland, Danbury, Brazoria, and others.
I am amazed and grateful to see how God has worked in such a short time, and excited for the future of Gospel ministry in Brazoria County Texas.

September report:

God continues to bless in the opportunities that He has opened up for us. He faithfully gives us new opportunities every month to connect with young men and women who are lost, hurting, and in need of guidance through our ministry at the Pregnancy Help Center. My current class of men in the Tuesday night Bible study has been very receptive to the wisdom and grace of God’s Word in the areas of being a husband and dad. As they see how God’s Word speaks to them with practical guidance, the door is opened for spiritual conversations as well. Amy and I are thankful for the all of the ways that God is using us in this ministry. We also rejoice with Her Heart Pregnancy Center in Manvel as they continue to develop their ministry. In the past few months, I have been given the opportunity to communicate with them about starting a men’s ministry.
On September 1st, Coastal Way Baptist Church had a worship service and a very coastal baptism at Surfside Beach! Coastal Way has enjoyed many such milestones since being organized as the first church in the 288 Church Planting project almost 2 years ago. This event was a blessing for the church, but they also saw how other people at the beach noticed what they were doing. This led to some great conversations. God is blessing Coastal Way’s efforts to connect with people outside of the usual worship location, including their participation in a community event. Local law enforcement and other first responders brought many of their vehicles and equipment to McClean Park in Lake Jackson to celebrate National Night Out. They also opened this event up to local organizations to have booths. Coastal Way set up a 10x10 tent that includes walls for privacy, and made it a diaper changing station! This idea was well-received and gave them a lot of opportunity for conversations with members of the community in attendance. They are looking forward to setting this up again at future events.
Just as Coastal Way was noticed and made new connections when they were at the beach, we are praying that 288 Church Planting project continues to find new ways to be “out and about” in other communities along the 288 corridor. Some people are interested in an invitation to church and some are not, but something I have experienced in this work is that most people are open to friendly conversation. In fact, nobody has turned me down or seemed offended when I wanted to talk about church or spiritual matters. Thank you for your prayers for God to continue to give us opportunity for connections and ministry.

August report:

After a full, eventful, and blessed summer, it is time to go back to school. Even though the calendar says that there are still 4 months left in 2024, the rhythm of life and ministry seems to always follow the academic calendar. The Devine children started another year of homeschooling this month. Dale is enrolled in his final class that he needs to earn as Associate’s degree in Automotive Technology. Alan is a high school senior. Tyler, Brooklyn, Daniel, and Levi started another year of their performing arts co-op. Most of them will be involved with 4H this year.
In ministry, this will be a season of focus on outreach. In the time that we have been on the field here, God has blessed us with an abundance of relationships through homeschooling, mutual interests, and serving at the Pregnancy Help Center. Over the summer, God blessed with even more contacts through intentional outreach efforts. My hope and prayer is to take the outreach methods that we have learned in summer efforts, and expand these to the other seasons.
Coastal Way Baptist Church has begun to include more intentional outreach efforts in their regular gatherings. Rather than meeting in the usual location on August 25, they met at a neighborhood park where one of the member families lives. The gathering included free food, games, and activities for the families from the neighborhood that visited. It was a great day, and the members are excited to seek out other locations to meet in the coming months to reach out to the community.
Amy continues to be a blessing to many young ladies through her work at the Pregnancy Help Center. This month, she had the privilege of leading someone to pray and receive Christ! Rejoice with us in another saved soul.

Did all of this really take place in just one month?
Hurricane Beryl. This was a new experience for our family. It was amazing to watch the fury of a storm like this from the safety of our home. We are definitely in awe of the power of a hurricane, especially since this was just a category 1. We saw God’s protection in the storm, and his provision after the storm when we were loaned a generator for the 5-6 days that we were without electricity.
Community outreach through hurricane cleanup. Among our association of churches, there are great people who have a heart for disaster relief. The desire is not just to cut up fallen trees and clean up yards, but to see lives touched by the
Gospel through these efforts. We are grateful for all of those who traveled here to give us these opportunities to show God’s love to our local community.
Church camp. As always, we were blessed by the fellowship and spiritual renewal of attending Texas Camp 4 at Pine Springs Baptist Camp. We rejoice with the
churches who celebrated salvations among those whom they brought to camp.
Lake Jackson outreach with a visiting sister church. Members of Horizon Baptist Church of Missouri City Texas spent two days in Lake Jackson washing cars, visiting homes, praying, and sharing the Gospel. Many lives were touched, and Coastal Way had 3 new visitors for their Public Debut worship service.
Public Debut worship service for Coastal Way Baptist Church. It has been a year and a half since Coastal Way Baptist Church celebrated her organization in a special service attended by sister churches. This month, they celebrated a service to
announce their presence to Lake Jackson and surrounding areas. We are thankful and excited for those who were in attendance.
4 salvations! 2 at the Pregnancy Help Center, 1 during disaster relief efforts, and 1 during the outreach with Horizon Baptist Church. Praise God for His mighty work though all of our efforts.

Summer is great time for ministry and fellowship opportunities outside of our usual routines and places. God is blessing our summer in so many ways, and I am excited to share all of it with you.
I attended the IMPACT outreach for the second year in a row, this time in Clovis New Mexico. It means a lot to me that 3 of my own kids got to be a part of a group of over 200 youths and sponsors who showed a lot of love to the people of Clovis. There were several salvations, and hundreds of conversations and prayers. Landmark Missionary Baptist Church of Clovis has also had many visitors for the two Sundays following the outreach. The week ended on a really high note as they made an announcement that I am excited to share with you now:
IMPACT 2025 is coming to the 288 corridor!
I will have much to share about this in the coming months, but I would like to encourage everyone who is interested in an outreach trip for your youth next summer to visit impact-missions.org/about-impact/ to learn more.
In July, we are looking forward to returning to Texas Camp 4 at Pine Springs Baptist Camp. This is always a great time of worship, fellowship, and recreation for us.
We are also looking forward to the outreach efforts of the youth of Horizon Baptist Church of Missouri city in July. They will be doing outreach in Lake Jackson on the 22nd and 23rd, and Pearland on the 24th and 25th. This will culminate in a public launch service for Coastal Way Baptist Church at 7:00 pm on Friday the 26th at the Pregnancy Help Center, and a community event at the Pearland Town Center at 5:00 pm on Saturday the 27th. Please keep all of this in your prayers as we look for God to move in the work that he has called us to.

I had a great trip with my 3 middlest kiddos this week. First a weekend in DFW, then on to New Mexico for the IMPACT outreach. After Alan and I had such a great week in Topeka last year, I was really glad to bring Tyler and Brooklyn also this year to experience the joy of sharing the love of Jesus in the city of Clovis. I can't think of a better way to cap off the week than an announcement that IMPACT will be coming to our mission field down south of Houston next year!

As May draws to a close, I am thankful for the connections that God is maintaining in my ministry. Specifically, the connections with people who are not in church and do not have any walk with the Lord that I am aware of. I have invited them to church, and even invited them to accept Christ’s free gift of salvation. Even though they have not accepted either one of these invitations (yet), they continue to engage in conversations and friendship. I am encouraged by the fact that some people are not “scared away” by the fact that I am a missionary, preacher, or even just a guy who is up front about his faith. I do not know where these relationships are going, but I do know that God has put them in my life. Please pray for 3 men in particular that are on my mind as I write this report that they will eventually understand their need for salvation, and to grow in a relationship with Him. Who do you know that needs God in their life? Even if they decline an invitation to church, maybe God is calling on you to reach them with His love and the Gospel.
I will be traveling with 3 of my children to Clovis New Mexico for the IMPACT outreach in June. I am thankful for this opportunity to visit another field of labor, and to give my children the opportunity to be a part of a great work of love and service.
Looking ahead to July, the youth of Horizon Baptist Church in Missouri City will spend 2 days in Lake Jackson, and 2 days in Pearland doing outreach for our mission work. This will culminate in a launch service for Coastal Way Baptist Church on July 26, and a community gathering in Pearland on either the 27th or 28th to promote a Bible study gathering there. Please pray for the planning and preparation for this big week.
Another salvation in May at the Pregnancy Help Center! God has been so good to continue to give me these opportunities in pregnancy center work.

As we turn the page on another month, I’m looking back at my calendar that I gradually filled in during the month of April. Now that the month is over, it is a very full calendar to look back on. The events, activities, meetings, travel, worship, and discipleship that filled our days this month are a reminder of what a great blessing this chapter of life is for me and my family.
Amy’s days are filled with her hard work and loving service at home, at the Pregnancy Help Center, and in many other aspects of ministry. Even though I am the one the carries the title of Missionary for this project, her contributions are commendable and priceless.
The children’s days are filled with homeschool, music, friends, and church activities. Even as we seek and invest in opportunities for ministry along the Highway 288 corridor, we are thankful every day that our children are living life to the fullest in this area.
God continues to grant opportunities to have Sunday visits with some of you on deputation. We appreciate your support in finances and prayers, and are thankful for the growing network of brothers and sisters in Christ who follow our efforts along the 288 corridor.
We were able to host a couple of young adult children of missionaries on a much more distant field, and give them a break from their field of service. It was such a privilege to give them some time in Texas, and for our older children to enjoy their company for that time as well.
Coastal Way Baptist Church continues to thrive in fellowship, discipleship, and personal growth of the members. They are making plans for the summer that I am looking forward to sharing with you as they continue to develop.
