I’ve been in a spiritual thought slump, so for the few of you that actually read them, I apologize!
One thing that has been on my mind recently is the difference between being internally focused versus externally focused.
We live in a time when the world encourages us to look inward—to set boundaries, protect our peace, and sometimes do less for the sake of our mental and physical health.
There is real wisdom in that. There are times when we absolutely need boundaries. Times when we need to step back, simplify, and prioritize what matters most so we can become the best version of ourselves.
But what we don’t want is to become so inwardly focused that we forget the power of looking outward.
Sometimes the very thing our hearts need most is to lift someone else. It can be easy to focus only on what is comfortable, convenient, or personally fulfilling. But discipleship has always been centered on noticing, serving, encouraging, and carrying one another.
We are here to help lift those around us. And often, true happiness and healing come when we forget ourselves for a moment and reach outward in love.
