ship and service to the Richmond community and to Virginia is deep and rich. Its design and construction was realized by a single gift of $500,000 provided by Thomas Fortune Ryan, a Virginia-born New York businessman, and his wife, Ida Barry Ryan. The Cathedral has recently undergone a more than $6 million interior and exterior restoration. Over the decades, the Cathedral has played host to diverse performing arts productions and concerts featuring local, national and international artists. The Cathedral’s design, acoustics and ambience make it a particularly pleasing venue for concert audiences and performers.

Prayer for Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. We’re invited to pray for Pope Leo’s prayer intention for this month - for the care of water. Many communities do not have access to this vital resource.

We pray for just and sustainable management of water so that all people have equal access to safe, clean, water.

In light of the ballot questions being voted on in the Nov. 3 election, Bishop Knestout has written a letter to the faithful, urging them to prayerfully form their conscience before voting on Ballot Question 1 - which seeks to enshrine extreme abortion laws in the Virginia constitution.

He reminds voters that our faith calls us to value the dignity of all human life and we must protect the women and unborn children that this amendment would threaten.

Jeff Caruso, the Executive Director of the Virginia Catholic Conference, will give a presentation on the proposed constitutional amendments that will be on the Virginia ballot this November. Amendments address abortion rights, the definition of marriage and restoration of voting rights for persons convicted of crimes who have completed their sentences. Mr. Caruso will provide lessons from Scripture, the treasure of Catholic social teaching, and natural law to help guide parishioners in prayerfully preparing to vote on these proposed amendments to the Virginia Constitution. Please attend this important presentation so that you are better informed on these issues. Members of the Social Justice Committee will provide a light lunch.
