Thanks for all the birthday greetings. Last year I think we were in the middle of a move and settling into our new apartment; so I barely remember much. So this is what 62 looks like! 🙂 I appreciate the greetings from everywhere. The pastor from our new church drove over with his wife (50 minutes in an ice storm!) to fellowship around dinner and talk church membership and ministry at their church. What a great blessing it has been to get to know this dynamically healthy and growing ministry. 🙂 Leslie experimented with making a chocolate-cherry cake (aka Schwarzwald Torte) for my birthday. Unlike Elon Musk’s rocket tests, it did not blow up; but that was also a problem: it didn’t rise up very far either. So they will be eaten later and probably taste similar to her award-winning brownies. 🙂 She bought a pistachio tort from my favorite bakery (every bakery is my favorite) and adorned it with numerically re-calculated candles (candles are fire code restricted at my age). Blessings to all and safety in any winter travel.

Ever since coming to Poland I have been amazed and grateful for how much opportunity (freedom, prosperity and security) God has given Poland. My ancestors in the 19th and 20th Centuries struggled to attain a portion of what people in this region enjoy today. This freedom was the result of citizens of allied countries electing strong leaders like Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher. It was because workers and church members supported L**h Walesa and Pope John Paul II. * But seems now, (since 2014) Europe is succumbing to accommodation and complacency regarding the enemies of free democracies. The leaders of Europe are unable to deter the aggression of nearby dictatorships. * The drone strike today is clear evidence that Europe and its allies are not willing to do what is needed to defend itself. Poland has bravely and effectively repelled immigration threats on its Belorussian border. But like all the other countries in Europe, it has done little else but pretend to prepare for a war it is unwilling to fight. * Yesterday I rode past one of the military installations near Grójec. The soldiers were training. Helicopters and military transports are regularly seen. But the spiritual and moral strength of our region is still missing. Please pray for the citizens of Poland, its military leaders and its neighbors, to elect and support better leaders who will stand strong and take action like the heroes of the past.

This is the Baptist monthly magazine for Poland. This month it features a picture of the congregation in Zelów that we have partnered with in recent years. Praise to God! Way to go Pastor Grzegorz & Asia and members. Your faithful work is being blessed by the Lord. :)

Arrival in Poland - We arrived back in Poland on December 28. We had a furlough that was very profitable but very busy, and so we are behind on our reports. Our flights were good with a minimal amount of drama. Zurich looks beautiful from the air: snow shrouded mountains along with green valleys. We should have a fuller report on our furlough out soon. We are engaged once again in helping to meet the spiritual needs of people.
1. Polish local church, Blisko Boga. (funeral, sermon on Jan15, new disciple, pastoral search, pastoral assistance).
2. Ukrainian friends that have needs for housing, language study and immigration sponsors in Canada.
3. Teaching Bible in English to 2 young students.
4. Restarting our translation project for our discipleship booklet which is needed immediately.
5. Preparing to start a Missions Training Groups that are necessary for strengthening believers both here in Warsaw and in the US.
Please pray for our daily priorities in teaching and training people to follow Christ while tending to the necessities of living here in Poland (including writing reports!).

This Tuesday (Sep13) we head back to the states for furlough. We will return just before the new year starts. As the Lord permits, we will visit and report to churches and individuals who are supporting our ministry and have given generously during the Ukrainian refugee crisis. We are looking forward to meeting with family members including two new grandchildren.
