KBC Family,
“The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want…” If you are one of God’s chosen lambs, then you are blessed beyond comprehension. If He truly is your divine Shepherd, he will protect you and provide for you in every way. This is the message of Psalm 23 that I began preaching yesterday and will complete this coming Sunday. I love the twenty-third Psalm as much as any Old Testament passage, and I read it again today and prayed every word of it. I encourage you to do the same sometime this week, and then come to church this coming Sunday prepared for God to work powerfully in your life.
As we conclude this hot summer and prepare for the fall, I hope that you will participate in all the exciting things happening at Kingsland. We are taking a couple more Wednesday nights off to rest and prepare, but we’ll get back at it on September 9th (6:30pm) with our Wednesday programs for people of all ages. Then, on Sunday, September 13th we are moving to our new service times for worship (10:30am) and Bible Study Fellowship (9am). We hope that starting everything 30 minutes earlier will help us reach more people and give us just a little more time to worship more freely. I hope that you will support this change and use it as an opportunity to invite a new friend or reach out to a KBC member who has been absent. Sometimes change is hard/inconvenient, but we pray that it will be worth it in the end. That morning we’ll serve you breakfast in the gym (as an incentive to help get you here 30 minutes earlier), and that afternoon our kids will begin musical practice. We modified our mission statement last year to read “inspiring people to courageous, Christ-centered living!” That is exactly what we want to do this fall at Kingsland. Let’s take a bold stand for Jesus! The psalmist said, “I will fear no evil,” so that should be our mindset. Let’s fearlessly, boldly, courageously take the gospel to our neighbors and friends, and let’s all take an unapologetic stand for God’s truth. Even a lamb could be bold and courageous when it has an omnipotent Shepherd who watches over it 24/7. That lamb may not be powerful or smart or exceptional, but it’s Shepherd is all of that and more. The Good Shepherd is the One that gets all the glory and praise. We are simply God’s sheep, and we have nothing to fear because our Shepherd is with us, providing for us, and protecting us. He anoints us. He fills up our cup to the point of overflowing. His goodness and mercy follow us each step of the way.
