Chamberlayne Heights has many ministries and ways to get involved, some of these include:
*MUSIC*
Music is the universal language of the church, and we strive to place it at the heart of our worship of Christ. The Chancel Choir, Directed by Allison Stowers, provides robust arrangements of music that celebrate our love for God and each other. The Handbell choir, directed by Allison Stowers, is al
so an integral part of our worship services. If you are interested in adding your voice and gifts to the music ministry, please contact the church office at 266-3551.
*EDUCATION*
A brand new year is here. It’s a year filled with new possibilities, new challenges, and new beginnings. We encourage you to think about your spiritual journey – where you are heading in your life, and consider participating in the many opportunities at Chamberlayne Heights Church. It is our hope and prayer that you will experience a transformational, rich, full life in Christ. Opportunities for spiritual growth include:
- Adult Education at 10:00 AM on Sundays
- Small group study sessions throughout the year:
Renovare, a small group Bible study, which meets each Wednesday morning. Chamberlayne Connections, an after-school tutoring ministry offered to elementary students during the school year. Volunteers offer their time and abilities to do one-on-one tutoring. This program is directed by Helen Wood. Please contact the church office at 266-3551 if you are interested.
*OUTREACH/MISSIONS*
Chamberlayne Heights United Methodist Church has a number of activities and ways to become involved in helping reach out to those around us throughout the year. Blessing of the Animals Service
This service has become an annual outdoor service for those with pets that are a special part of their lives and families to come give thanks for the often unrecognized members of our homes and pray for God’s blessing on them. The 2010 service was held on Sunday, April 25 at 2:00 PM on the front lawn. Bibles to India
CHUMC participates in collecting bibles for our brothers and sisters in Christ living in India who often cannot afford a bible of their own, but long to have his word in hand. Churches Around Richmond Involved to Assure Shelter. Chamberlayne Heights is partnered with other Richmond churches to house individuals and families in transition needing shelter and food. We also collect useful household items to help these individuals and families furnish their homes when they do find a place of their own. We will be hosting a group March 5-12, 2011. Day Camp
Chamberlayne Heights has partnered with Chamberlayne Baptist Church, Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church, and First Mennonite Church to provide a three day camp for kids at an area farm in June. It has been a great event for years for youth to experience God’s creation up close and personal. Lamb’s Basket
Those attending Chamberlayne Heights services often bring food and other consumable household items which are delivered weekly to the Lamb’s Basket for distribution to families in our community needing a helping hand. Caring & Sharing for Thanksgiving
Is similar to the Lamb’s Basket in that we gather contributions of food for those in need to help make their Thanksgiving special. Christmas Giving Tree
It has been a blessing for us as the giver and the families in need in our community for years to purchase toys, gifts, and food for those not able to do so. Richmond Area Re****ed Citizens (RARC)
Chamberlayne Heights supports RARC by sponsoring monthly dances. Tutoring Ministry
For several years strong now, Chamberlayne Heights has partnered with a local elementary school to hold weekly tutoring sessions for young students in need of special support and encouragement to succeed in academics and life.
