River Road Church, Baptist

River Road Church, Baptist A community of believers in Richmond, VA seeking a "thoughtful faith." This is the official page of River Road Church, Baptist.

In 1945, a group of Christians began dreaming of a church in Richmond, which, though rooted in Baptist heritage, would be open to people of all Christian faiths. River Road Church was constituted in 1946 and today the congregation continues to grow and foster that dream. For questions or comments contact [email protected]. Believe in yourself and go for the hard, chaotic, risky things that lead to growth. We'll always be here to support you. You were created to help others, so look beyond your own needs and see what's happening around you. As people of faith, we are called to serve.

We invite you to join us for worship this Sunday, June 7, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary. The service will also be broadcast live at youtube.com/riverroadchurch and rrcb.org/live, and the livestream will begin at 10:50 a.m. with pre-worship music.

This Sunday we will celebrate communion. For those worshiping at home, please gather elements prior to worship if you are able—crackers or bread, juice—whatever you have that is the closest. Sincerity and the meaning of sharing in Christ together are most important. For those worshiping in the Sanctuary, we will pass the communion plates during worship, but for those who prefer the pre-packaged cup and wafer or gluten free wafer, you may pick one up from the basket in the narthex or balcony before worship.

If you are unable to join us in-person, or watch the stream live, replays are available on our YouTube channel at anytime.

Who's lonely, hurting, or sad? Amy Grant shared 5 phrases to foster community: 'I am proud of you,' 'May I help you?,' 'I love you,' 'Thank you,' and importantly, 'I am thinking of you.' Prioritizing 'we' over 'me' and caring for others is key.

A powerful reminder that who you are, right now, is more than enough. You don't need to change or acquire more to be worthy. Believe it.

Tonight’s presentation is open to all—no reservations needed. The program begins at 7:15 p.m.

Program Update: Our friend Melissa Rogers unfortunately sends her deepest regrets at not being able to be with us this evening due to an untimely illness. We wish her a swift recovery! While we will miss her presence, we are pleased to share that our dear friend and renowned church and state expert - and longtime VBHS member - J. Brent Walker, executive director emeritus of BJC will be stepping in for the keynote address, sharing his perspective on our theme: What Baptists Got Right at the Founding and Why It Matters Today. We can think of no one better prepared to do so and look forward to seeing everyone soon! 7:15 pm, River Road Church, Baptist

To our graduates and people of faith, you are more than just taking up space. Reach, stretch, try something new, and make yourself known. Believe in yourself; we always will. Go for the hard, chaotic, risky thing that leads to much.

On May 6, 2026, the Distinguished Speaker Forum at River Road Church had the honor of hosting Dr. Francis Collins. Dr. Collins’ presentation, “Science and Faith: Allies, not Enemies,” explored the valuable connections of science and faith, and was followed by a thoughtful Q&A facilitated by Dr. Seth Roberts and a hymn-sing of “Praise the Source of Faith and Learning” by Thomas Troeger to the tune Hyfrydol.
