From the Desk of our Presiding Bishop regarding Holy Week!!!

From the Desk of Presiding Bishop Y. Eric Lee Sr. - M. Div

As we enter into the highest and most sacred week of our Christian faith, I extend heartfelt salutations to each of you.

It is my prayer that every service held in commemoration of the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord be filled with power, purpose, and the presence of God.

We go from “Hosanna in the highest!” to Maundy Thursday, then to Golgotha, and finally to Resurrection Sunday! What a difference a week makes. In just a few days, we witness the fullness of Christ’s love, sacrifice, and ultimate victory.

May this Holy Week deepen your faith, renew your spirit, and draw you ever closer to the heart of our risen Savior.

Grace and peace to you all.

Bishop Lee taught us on Sunday that ust like the Shunammite woman, we have to remind ourselves that God’s promises don’t expire, even when the situation looks hopeless. When she told Elisha, "Did I ask for a son, my lord? Didn’t I say, ‘Don’t mislead me’?" (2 Kings 4:28), she was essentially saying, "God, you promised!"

Faith doesn’t deny reality—it speaks God’s truth over it. When things look dead, we have to stand firm and declare, "But God, You promised!" Whether it's a broken relationship, a financial struggle, a health battle, or a wayward child, we can trust that God is faithful to His word.

Vashti was the queen of Persia and the first wife of King Ahasuerus in the Book of Esther. She was deposed after refusing the king’s command to appear before him and his guests at a banquet. Her defiance is often seen as a symbol of dignity and strength, paving the way for Esther to become queen.

Deborah in the Bible

Deborah is one of the most remarkable women in the Bible. She was a prophetess, judge, and military leader in ancient Israel. Her story is found in Judges 4–5, during a time when Israel was oppressed by the Canaanites.

Milcah’s Bold Request

The daughters of Zelophehad, including Milcah, approached Moses, Eleazar the priest, and the leaders of Israel, asking for the right to inherit their father’s land (Numbers 27:1–5). At the time, inheritance laws favored male descendants, and women were not typically given land rights.

God responded positively, instructing Moses:
“The daughters of Zelophehad are right in what they are saying. You shall certainly give them property as an inheritance among their father’s relatives and transfer their father’s inheritance to them.” (Numbers 27:7)
