"When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne." — Matthew 25:31

As we welcome Shabbat, may we pause to remember that Yeshua is the righteous King who reigns in glory and justice. Let this day of rest renew our hearts, strengthen our faith, and fill us with anticipation for His coming Kingdom.

Shabbat Shalom! May His peace, presence, and joy be with you and your family this Sabbath.

The lighting of the menorah begins this week's parsha—a reminder that we are called to shine with intention, lifting the light before the Lord. Even in the wilderness, with complaints and challenges, God remained faithful to guide, provide, and shape His people.

In Gospel of Mark, Chapter 14, we see a powerful act of devotion as a woman pours out costly perfume—an offering of love and surrender. Where others saw waste, Yeshua saw worship.

May we be a people who lift the light and pour out our lives in wholehearted devotion, trusting that God sees and honors every act done for Him.

"For behold, you will conceive and bear a son. Let no razor come upon his head, for the boy will be a Nazirite to God from the womb.He will begin to deliver Israel from the hand of the Philistines.”

Judges 13:5 TLV

In this verse [from the Haftarah portion?], we see the promise of a child set apart before birth —called to live a life dedicated to God. The story of Samson begins not with strength, but with consecration and purpose.

May this Shabbat remind us that we too are called and set apart for His purposes. Even before we act, God is at work in our lives.

Shabbat Shalom!

In the longest parsha of the Torah, we’re reminded that every person is seen, counted, and entrusted with purpose. From the service of the Levites to the beautiful priestly blessing, God’s order reflects His care for both the community and the individual. Even in the warnings in the Gospel of Mark, Chapter 13, we are called to stay alert and faithful in uncertain times.

May we walk in the blessing: “The Lord bless you and keep you…” and live each day knowing we are counted, called, and covered by His presence.

In this week's Haftarah Portion, we read the story of Ruth, which reminds us that faithfulness in the ordinary can lead to extraordinary redemption. In the midst of loss and uncertainty, Ruth chose loyalty [HESED in Hebrew]—and God wove her story into a greater plan of restoration.

Habakkuk’s prayer echoes that same trust: even when the fields are empty and the future feels uncertain, we can still rejoice in the Lord.

“Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.”

Habakkuk 3:18

May this Shabbat strengthen our faith to trust, remain steadfast, and rejoice—no matter the season.

This week we celebrate Shavuot—a beautiful reminder of both God’s provision and revelation. As we remember the giving of the Torah and the outpouring in fullness of His Spirit, may we rejoice with grateful hearts, knowing that every good gift comes from Him.

May this Shavuot be a time of renewed joy, fresh surrender, and open hearts to receive His Word and His Spirit once again. Hag Shavuot Sameach! ✨

📍 Please join us for our Outdoor Shabbat Shavuot Service and Picnic at Dorey Park on May 23rd at 10 AM! Bring a lawn chair and a dish to share!

📖 Also, you can join the UMJC Tikkun Leil Shavuot on Thursday, May 21st from 8–11 PM for a special evening of study, reflection, and celebration.

This week we celebrate the festival of Shavuot, we celebrate both provision and revelation—the giving of the Torah and the outpouring of God’s Spirit. In Book of Deuteronomy 14:22–16:17, we’re invited to rejoice before the Lord with gratitude, remembering that everything we have comes from Him.

Shabbat Shalom!

In Gospel of Mark 12:28–34, Yeshua reminds us of what matters most: to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength—and to love our neighbor as ourselves.

This Shabbat, may we return to the simplicity and beauty of wholehearted love—toward God and toward one another. In that place, we draw near to His kingdom and reflect His heart.
