Pastor Tomoko began serving at Sycamore in the summer of 2023, and her role has gradually expanded over time. Initially, her ministry focused primarily on the Japanese-speaking congregation. Beginning in March 2024, her responsibilities expanded to include the English-speaking congregation, as part of Sycamore’s movement toward becoming “One Church.” She has Lay Ministerial Standing with the NCNC UCC for this new Call. All are invited to attend the service and reception!

BLESSING OF HOPE

So may we know
the hope
that is not just
for someday
but for this day—
here, now,
in this moment
that opens to us:

hope not made

Because it's still January, are you thinking about how to improve your spiritual practice in 2026? In our mission statement, we say that we want to "tend the holy in ourselves and in the world". For me, I just planned a retreat at the Monastery of Christ in the Desert during Lent. What will you do to tend the holy in yourself this year?

Our Roman Catholic Benedictine monastery on the banks of the Chama river in New Mexico welcomes guests for day visits or self-directed personal retreats.
