On Jan. 3 1521, Martin Luther– the father of the reformation and founder of Protestantism– was officially excommunicated by Pope Leo X from the Roman Catholic Church.
Much of what we do & how we practice/live out our faith, has come from Martin Luther's teaching. He insisted on the need for people in the pew to be able to read the Bible in their/our own language, instead of depending on a priest to read & teach it.
He taught that we're saved from our sins by God's grace thru the death & resurrection of Christ, based on the New Testament. Martin Luther married, & had children -the first clergyman to do that in hundreds of years. His example & teaching on marriage led other priests to get marry & have children.

We will have our 4th Sunday of Advent service at 10 am on Dec. 24.

We'll celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus, at 5 pm. Please join us for carols, communion, & candlelight.
