Richmond Korean Presbyterian Church (RKPC) was founded in 1967 by a small group of dedicated Korean Christians who wanted to worship God in Korean language and to provide a nurturing environment for the future generations to learn and embrace God's teachings and to reinforce the positive cultural identity of what it means to be a Korean-American Christian in today's society. Before the name change
to Richmond Korean Presbyterian Church (RKPC), our church was originally called Richmond Community Church, serving all Koreans in the area at the time and held its services at the Ginter Park Presbyterian Church next to the Union Theological Seminary. In 1977, we were one of the first Korean churches on the East Coast to join PCUSA as a member of the Hanover Presbytery. A new sanctuary was erected in 1990 and the Education Center was completed in 2005. English Ministry conducted its first English speaking service in 1991. Currently, we are a founding member of the Atlantic Korean-American Presbytery and belong to the Mid-Atlantic Synod. RKPC offers comprehensive worship services in both Korean as well as English language. We also conduct Bible studies in both Korean and English on Sundays. The congregation is organized into active small cell groups called 동산 (D**g San) that meet together regularly to study the word and to have fellowship. Furthermore, RKPC offers early morning prayer service Monday through Saturday, as well as, weekly Wednesday evening service and Friday evening prayer worship services. In addition to Vacation Bible School (VBS), we have fun-oriented summer enrichment programs for the children's ministry called FunFun School. We have a variety of activities and events for the elementary and youth group students throughout the year. Furthermore, we have the Silver Academy geared toward senior citizens which offers variety of enrichment programs during the Spring and the Fall semester. We also have Evergreen Korean School during Fall and Spring semesters to teach our youngsters the Korean language, culture and history. Both programs are available to the congregation members and their non-member guests. We are active in both domestic and foreign missions to places like Alaska and Guatemala as well as other areas. We support local organizations such as New life for Youth Ministries and local J.L. Our church has undergone numerous changes and growth over the years. What has not changed is our unwavering commitment to remain relevant, steadfast and faithful to the teachings of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Come join us for worship!
