This Sunday feels like a good Sunday to have a brass quintet in worship: the first service of the fall season (back to 11:00!), the ordination of new elders, and the first service of the new choir season. Five amazing players who will accompany the choir on a new anthem and the congregation for a hymn; there also will be an organ/brass arrangement of the thrilling opening to Widor's 6th Symphony at the postlude. More Light Presbyterians wishes you a happy Pride!

Just as MLP began with the sacred act of public protest, so too did Pride. The call to stand up, speak out, and refuse to allow injustice to endure is holy work.

It is also exhausting work.

So this month, and every day, take care of yourself. Avoid the comment section when you can. Ignore the laughing emojis on posts supporting Pride. Put down your phone. Close your laptop. Rest and self care are not retreat. They are preparation for the work ahead, and friends, we are the ones called to do this work together!

Remember: You are a child of God, a unique reflection of holy creation. You are seen. You are known. You are loved.

Today, tomorrow, always.
