Far-Left-Lunatics
Without question, this political season is the most dangerous in recent memory. The flourish of outlandish, non-sensical blatant lies is alarming. Case in point the imbecilic statements offered by Vance to explain away the comments of #45: Vance defends Trump’s ‘enemy from within’ remarks – The VP nominee insists #45’s comments were directed at dissenting Americans he described as ‘far-left lunatics’.
Lunacy is defined as wild foolishness : extravagant folly. 3. : a foolish act. Its slang definition is stupid behavior that will have bad results. It is not lunacy to want Women to have control over their own bodies, it is not lunacy to want to reign in the excessive student loans upwardly mobile Americans are saddled with. It’s not lunacy to have compassion for people struggling to enjoy a better quality of life. It’s not lunacy to promote social programs, labor unions, consumer protection, workplace safety regulation, equal opportunity, disability rights, racial equity, regulations against environmental pollution, and criminal justice reform.
If lunacy is what you’re searching for, here’s where you’ll find it. It can be found in a man who is a prodigious pathological liar. In laymen’s terms a man who lies all the time making crazy assertions with absolutely no basis in fact. Lunacy is trusting a man who has faithfully demonstrated that he has loyalty to no one but himself – ask Jeff Sessions. Lunacy is believing a man who promises to make America Great Again but who actually had four years to do so as President but only made it dangerously worse and globally despised.
Politics has always been a dirty business; no one is fooled by that. However, how is it that America has become so twisted that it could tolerate yea even vigorously support pure evil, pure craziness, and real lunacy? You know my hope and my prayer is that there is still enough of us willing to vote to put to bed the real lunatic fringe that is not so much anymore. Oh, let it be so…

The Seduction of the Sanctified

One of the most insidious abuses of God’s Sacred Word is the hypocrisy of holiness practiced by scandalous preachers. The clearest red flag sign of hypocritical holiness is hard preaching. With nostrils flared, usually spraying while saying it, these preachers of damnation hold spellbound the “little people” who are honestly trying to live holy with loud protests. They are scared senseless by taunts of the impending doom of roasting in the eternal BBQ of God because they didn’t sing the right songs, or failed to adhere to Bible passages that not even the preachers have presented properly.
Now these purveyors of doom? Follow them home or catch them behind closed doors and your admiration of them will wilt like a frail flower in the desert sun. I know because I was one of those flowers, and since then I have encountered other flowers who have been harangued, beleaguered, and discouraged, almost to the point of exhaustion, causing them to leave the church in some cases.
I remember my main deacon telling the story of giving up his television because his church taught that watching TV was a go-to-hell sin. However, that deacon, invited to do some work at the pastor’s home was shocked to find a special window installed between his kitchen and garage so that the preacher could watch TV. Of course, his explanation was that the TV wasn’t in his house. Please.
I grew up in the quintessential version of a legalistic, works-based go-to-hell church. Yes, they instilled in us a practice of reading the Word, praying, and attending church (sometimes six out of the seven days of the week). I was terrified that one mistake, one misdeed committed a few seconds before the Lord came would forever doom me to eternal flames. I was so scared that I confessed about everything – stuff that wasn’t even sin!
But the older I got, the more I was invited to the inner circles of ministry. What a shock! Preachers I thought were holy and righteous were philanderers. What? God’s men? What saved me then? Saved me, I thought you were already saved, you might ask? Seminary! I had to go to Seminary to discover actual Bible Grace and the unmerited Love of God. It was seminary that saved me – the second time.
The Gospel of Grace is not, I repeat, is not a license to sin. But what I discovered is that it is the clear acknowledgment that God and God alone can deliver the believer from what otherwise would be a vice-grip of slavery to a depraved human nature. Grace is an oxygen tank to those drowning; it’s a cool breeze for those in a blast furnace. Grace is irrevocable deliverance from what otherwise would be irreversible destruction.
Seminary created in me a love of God and for God that no fire-breathing sermons ever could. Now, I look at those hypocrites with a side-eye. Here is the crazy part, everyone of us will be judged by God, based upon the judgments we render. In a phrase, mercy and forgiveness will serve us all much better than doom and gloom.
I was tempted to share a list of scriptures to make my point, but instead, I’ll offer one Bible episode. The religious people brought a woman taken in adultery, in the very act, to Jesus, not for salvation but for destruction. The law says stone her, but what sayest thou? The woman was probably scared senseless. The one person above all authorized to kill her was standing before her and holding her fate in his hands.
What was Jesus’ response? No response at all. Instead, he started writing in the sand. The Bible doesn’t say, but I suspect that whatever Jesus wrote when read by the accusers turned them into wimps who scurried away in haste. And, Jesus’ last words, “Neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more.” How’s that for a sermon?

A bullet from an AR-15 can travel at speeds of up to 3,300 feet per second (ft/s). This is almost twice as fast as a bullet from a handgun. Being hit by a bullet from that rifle would definitely cause major damage. The AR-15 is the rifle that #45 was supposedly shot from. Notice the picture of Evander Holifield's ear after having been bitten by Tyson. You can clearly see the damage. But look at the picture of #45's ear taken at his Georgia rally last week. That is shows no deformity, abnormality, or the like. There is no way that ear could have produced that much blood (pictured in the photo on the left) yet show no evidence of damage. Wake up, people!!!

I had the unpleasant opportunity to watch a video of a "preacher" castigating the "Black Church" because they dared acknowledge an endorsement of Vice-President Kamala Harris. This preacher went so far as to name names after which he criticized them for daring to endorse her "rather than stand for righteousness" and follow the teaching of the Bible. The sermon was adorned with histrionics masquerading as passionate anointing applied to defending the faith. PLEASE GIVE ME A BREAK! First of all the Black Church is not monolithic. How about that?
Now let's explore the hypocrisy of this presenter in some detail. This same preacher has no problem endorsing #45 while castigating the Black Church for endorsing Vice-President Harris. If “Righteousness” is in fact the attribute to be pursued, Republicans are the last ones to be consulted. Why? Because their duplicity is palpable. They don’t care about righteousness only power. If, for instance, they had a real interest in preserving “life…” as in the life of the unborn, why then are then not as passionate about ‘preserving’ life of the already living like the hundreds of Black men and young men who are systematically murdered by racist/privileged white cops (hard to dignify them by using the label police officers)? They don’t care and that lack of care is so obvious!! To read a more complete discussion of this point read my earlier post.
To the presenter/preacher, let me affirm that we are not moved by your feigned outrage in the name of holiness. If the Holy Bible is indeed the rule that governs your choices, then #45 is the absolute last person you'd embrace. He lies, cheats, steals, is misogynistic, racist, white privileged, unholy, and unthankful. Why isn’t that exasperating to your righteous sensibilities? #45 boasts of “grabbing women’s genitalia” and has affairs on his wives (plural) mind you, and children out of wedlock, but the Christian right is so willing to ignore those peccadillos all because he claims to be against abortion. Further, you said, "You can call me racist, you can call me..." While I don't need your permission to do so, I'll gladly oblige. You are in fact a racist. It is a shame to the Gospel that you hide behind its tenets to ply your wares. And, if you insist on appealing to history, I'll add this tidbit - The Ku Klux Klan was christian and frequently referred to the Bible to justify their atrocious acts against Black people. You sound righteous and your indignation holy but it is anything but...
Finally, I vote, I endorse I pray for whom I will because I am exercising my Civic duty and privilege.
In the Bible you claim to love, there is an episode that puts this mess into perspective - Joshua 5:13 When Joshua was by Jericho, he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man was standing before him with his drawn sword in his hand. And Joshua went to him and said to him, “Are you for us, or for our adversaries?” 14 And he said, “No; but I am the commander of the army of the LORD.
If you've decided to back #45 so be it. I'm convinced it's a bad decision but so be it. Just stop the putrid hypocrisy of trying to align the Bible with your decision (I really wanted to say foolishness).

A sincere gentleman privately responded to one of my posts. I am maintaining his privacy, but here is my answer to his questions: Thank you for taking the time to reach out to me personally. I will do my best to address your issues. Let me begin at your end, [The question] “I wonder if the church, especially the Black church, is so focused on Black issues that we’re not considering the full scope of the ramifications of which party will best seek to pursue interests that might delay God’s judgment on this nation’s unrighteousness-especially with the rate at which America spills innocent blood by way of abortion.”
[My Answer] There is no question that Proverbs 14:34 teaches that “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people.” It is also true that the church must be careful to always promote, exalt, and remain fiercely devoted to the “faith once-for-all delivered to the saints. The problem though with your query is in two areas. 1. The flawed (in my opinion) assertion that Republicans are ‘pursuing interests that might delay God’s judgment on this nation’s unrighteousness’. In a phrase, they are not. What they are doing is playing the Christian right to secure its voting bloc.
If “Righteousness” is in fact the attribute to be pursued, Republicans are the last ones to be consulted. Why? Because their duplicity is palpable. They don’t care about righteousness only power. If, for instance, they had a real interest in preserving “life…” as in the life of the unborn, why then are they not as passionate about ‘preserving’ the life of the already living like the hundreds of Black men and young men who are systematically murdered by racist/privileged white cops (hard to dignify them by using the label police officers)? They don’t care and that lack of care is so obvious!!
They make all kinds of noise about the “southern border” but if border security was their real passion, they would be vigilant to protect the “Northern and Eastern” borders. But they’re not, and why? Because mostly White people come across those borders. The hideous attack against the Southern border is because non-white people are crossing there. They lie, especially their chief spokesperson, claiming that they (the ones crossing over) are rapists, murderers, and the like. The facts are quite different.
The actual statistics are 1. Border crossings are down dramatically under the Biden administration. [Sidebar] Why isn’t anyone holding #45 accountable for the big lie. He was supposed to build the wall, and Mexico was going to pay for it [he promised]. #45 neither built the wall, (most of what was worked on was wall already in existence) nor did Mexico pay anything. That’s one of my major irritations with #45’ers: They conveniently forget his actual track record and presidential performance. Has anyone not considered that One Million Americans died of Covid under his watch or more accurately lack of watching, while he touted injecting bleach into patients as a therapy? 2. Does Mexico supply lots of Drugs to this country. Yes, but that trade would stop immediately were it not for the unbridled support that trade receives from the white power structure!
One other point on this drug matters. The congress constructed a bipartisan bill for border security that was hailed as a major breakthrough. #45 told the very Republicans who had agreed to the bill to block it and why? Because it would be bad for his candidacy as Democrats would have something to celebrate. How ugly is that? This observation I’ll use to address point #1. “The president, while a vital leader in the country, doesn’t drive legislation.” #45’s non-legislative actions have altered the judiciary, as he has appointed sycophants whose allegiance to the law is small compared to their allegiances to #45.
2. While clearly not a great pick for Black interests, could it be that the Republican slate is the best available option for Kingdom ethics on things that are most central to Apostolic doctrine - including the sanctity of life and the nature of human creation and God’s design, vs. the advancing effort to desensitize culture and children on gender identities beyond male and female? Ans – Let’s be clear American Politics are not now nor have they been for centuries, religious, certainly not Christian or anything like it. Remember the very tenets of the republic clearly delineate the separation of Church and State. It is a false assertion that Republicans are the best available option for “Kingdom” ethics on things that are most central to the Apostolic Doctrine. Here’s my defense – 1. The Christian Right gobbles up the hints of the anti-abortion/ anti-gay agenda. But it’s phony!!
If Apostolic Doctrine (would you allow me to use the word Holiness) was the focus of attention what about all the other egregious sins the Republicans and their henchman #45 commit consistently? Why doesn’t that behavior offend Apostolic sensibilities? They lie, cheat, steal, are misogynistic, racist, white privileged, unholy, and unthankful, why isn’t that exasperating to Apostolic sensibilities? #45 boasts of “grabbing women’s genitalia” and has affairs on his wives (plural) mind you, and children out of wedlock, but the Christian right is so willing to ignore those peccadillos all because he claims to be against abortion. Give me a break. And, while I’m on the Christian piece, the news seized upon the staged Prayer of Christian leaders who laid hands on #45. But why isn’t the Christian right incensed by the credible report that after the prayer session, behind closed doors, #45 castigated those very leaders as losers!!
Let’s pause for a moment to consider a Bible episode in Acts 16. The statements by the damsel were technically accurate “These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to you the way of salvation.” No one can deny that the words are accurate. So what was Paul’s reaction to hearing those words? “Paul, having become greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And it came out that very hour.” I suspect that “Apostolics” would be much better served if they exercised their spiritual gifts and rebuked this hypocrisy rather than endorsing it – going so far as to claim that #45 is “God’s servant and has been sent by God…”. Give me a break!
It is the job of Apostolics and Christians in general, to passionately with singleness of purpose, to promote, preach, teach, and live the Gospel of Grace, and to live in holiness letting our lights shine. We as people vote not as our Christian duty but to exercise our Civic duties, responsibilities, and rights. If our focus is Spiritual then we mirror the sentiments of Jesus who said, “My Kingdom is not of this world, else would my servants fight.” Instead, we vote as our civic duty that it might be well with us. #45 has consistently demonstrated a complete lack of honor, integrity, and duty, and instead, he’s proven to be chaotic, a pathological liar, self-centered, white-privileged, racist, and pure evil.
I cannot in good conscience vote for and/or support such evil, and neither should you.

Here is a more complete copy of Mitch McConnell's remarks: "WASHINGTON – Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell privately described then-President Donald Trump as "stupid as well as being ill-tempered," "despicable" and a "narcissist," after the 2020 election, according to excerpts from a forthcoming biography of the longtime Senate power broker."

And yet, this "Republican" and so many like him, has chosen to support this "stupid as well as being ill-tempered, despicable and a narcissist." What the What?? Can we say the height of hypocrisy?! What is it about you people that you can so completely overlook the obvious and for what? Your duplicity is such a national shame and embarrassment. You'd risk the stability of the country to support someone you KNOW is unfit? Shame on you!

Now to all those who still have at least a modicum of self-respect and honor, commit to voting to end this insanity and national threat. Please make sure to commit to creating a time when we do not have to hear, hear about, or read references to #45. Do you not know that there is not another person, world leader, even a president whose name, image, and affairs have been spoken about every single day for the past 12 years besides #45! That's insane.

To all those AA people who are hell-bent on channeling the spirit of Stepin Fetchit and Uncle Tom all in an effort to curry favor with a man who has open, unveiled contempt for you and your kind. What is wrong with you?

In 19 days our country will make a choice between protracted chaos or a return to sanity. I beg you all to do the right thing, abandon hypocrisy if not for yourself, do it for me!
