Today in our Kid’s Academy, our young people were reminded that fear grows when we focus on what is happening around us; However, our faith grows when we fix our eyes on our savior, Jesus, that walks through the storms with us and has the power to command them to cease.

Day 5: Search Me, Lord

Scripture - Psalm 139:23-24

Devotional Thought

The most important moment of the sermon came at the end—not when we were asked to examine others, but when we were challenged to examine ourselves.

Before asking who should be removed from our table, we should ask whether we are the person creating unhealthy environments for others.

Are we known for building up or tearing down?

Do our words encourage or discourage?

Do people leave conversations with us stronger or weaker?

Spiritual maturity begins when we stop pointing fingers and start inviting God to search our hearts.

Reflection

If God searched your heart today, what attitude, habit, or behavior would He ask you to surrender?

Prayer

Search me, Lord. Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me. Remove anything that hinders my relationship with You and help me become a source of encouragement to others. Amen.

Closing Challenge

This week, ask yourself before every significant conversation, invitation, or relationship:

"Will this help me grow closer to Christ—or will I need to say, 'I'll pass on dinner'?"

Day 4: Learn to Say No

Scripture - Hebrews 12:1

Devotional Thought

Many believers struggle with saying "no" because they don't want to offend people. Yet sometimes the most spiritual word we can speak is a simple "no."

No to gossip.

No to compromise.

No to unhealthy influences.

No to conversations that poison our hearts.

Every "no" to something unhealthy becomes a "yes" to God's purpose for our lives.

Jesus often withdrew from situations that distracted from His mission. We must learn to do the same.

Reflection

What invitation, relationship, or habit may God be asking you to decline in this season?

Prayer

Father, give me discernment to recognize distractions and courage to say no when necessary so that I can fully say yes to Your will. Amen.

Day 3: Accountability Is Love

Scripture
Proverbs 27:17 – "Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend."

Devotional Thought

God never intended for believers to walk alone. The church is more than a place of worship—it is a community of accountability.

Real friends do more than celebrate us; they help us grow. They encourage us when we are discouraged. They challenge us when we drift. They lovingly tell us the truth when we need correction.

Healthy accountability is not judgment—it is love in action.

Ask yourself whether the people closest to you are helping you become more like Christ or making compromise easier.

Reflection

Who in your life lovingly challenges you to grow spiritually?

Prayer

Lord, surround me with people who encourage holiness, integrity, and spiritual growth. Help me be that kind of friend to others as well. Amen.

Day 2: Protect What God Deposited

Scripture: Philippians 4:8

Devotional Thought

Have you ever left church encouraged, inspired, and full of faith, only to have one conversation completely drain your spirit?

The enemy often cannot stop God's Word from being preached, so he attempts to neutralize its impact afterward. A critical conversation, a gossip-filled phone call, or a negative text message can rob believers of the encouragement they received from God.

What God deposits on Sunday should be protected throughout the week.

Guard your thoughts. Guard your conversations. Guard your peace.

Reflection

What voices have the greatest influence over your thinking?

Prayer

Father, help me protect the Word You have planted in my heart. Keep me focused on things that are true, pure, lovely, and of good report. Amen.
