Rising Mt Zion Baptist Church

Rising Mt Zion Baptist Church Rising Mount Zion Baptist Church (RMZ) has an extensive history which dates back more than 145 years to May 10th, 1869. Daniel James, assembled and prayed.

The initial start for a church in this area came in the year of 1866, just one year after the Civil War, when men of vision and faith in God, under the leadership of Rev. They decided in their deliberation to meet regularly from home to home to hold prayer services. RMZ came into being in a little Quaker Schoolhouse on Hague Street in the Fulton Area, now called "Rocketts." Since it's beginning, R

MZ was destined to be a church of the people for the people. Throughout its history, RMZ has been a beacon of hope for this community. RMZ continues to grow spiritually, physically and financially. RMZ continues to serve as a place of hope...a place where people can come and be themselves...a place where everyone is welcomed and loved! We give ALL GLORY to God for the great things He has done, and continues to do here at Rising Mount Zion Baptist Church!

We are so grateful for members of the Henrico County Alumnae Chapter - Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc worshipping with us on Palm Sunday and for the seed they sowed into our youth ministry. Special thanks to Sister Vanea Person Preston for extending the invitation—what a blessing!

And as always, Rev. Dr. LaKeisha Cook took us higher, closing us out with a weighty prayer that has us spiritually prepared as we enter Holy Week.
