Sisters, please mark your calendars for the June CWC Conference with our own State Coordinator, Dr. Velma Green. These conferences have been a joy during the COVID-19 pandemic that have allowed women to attend who never had the opportunity to travel to statewide events. If you need help with Zoom, reach out to Mary Nichols for tech support. The link and phone number for those who wish to dial in via phone will be sent to your email the week of the event.

There's a COGVA CWC conference this Friday, October 16th, at 7 PM as well as this one for November. Both will be excellent. Please make plans to Zoom or dial in. The information is the same for both sessions.

Announcing our 2020 Christ’s Birthday Observance during Advent.

Theme: World Changer
“For to us, a child is born, to us, a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 NIV

With one tiny cry, everything changed. Years of oppression withering under the weight of a tiny child. But this was no ordinary child. Hundreds of years before this child came into the world, deliverance was promised. Isaiah spoke to a people who had wandered from faithfulness, who were lost in darkness. While he prophesied the coming captivity, he also promised liberation.

On that night, in the most unlikely of places, Jesus was born. Imagine his mother, Mary, carefully swaddling her new baby, counting his fingers and toes. She probably gazed at his innocent face, unaware of the weight of the moment.
This was the moment the world changed.

Greetings My Dear Sisters:

Trust you all are reasonably well. After many discussions and the current situation we are facing, the Annual Spring Convention for April 24-25, 2020 is now POSTPONED . Prayerfully, we will be able to reschedule for the fall of the year. We will keep you informed of the tentatively plans for the future. Stay tuned for further updates. Stay safe and be careful.

We had some wonderful people come and visit The Linen Chest on the way to their new assignment.

The Christian Women Connection (CWC) Linen Chest is unlike any other missionary-support program in the world.

The Linen Chest serves to provide career missionaries in the Church of God with household necessities as they serve, and again once they return stateside. CWC groups send financial support to the Linen Chest.

Meet John & Gwen Johnson
Regional Coordinators for Africa

THEIR MINISTRY FOCUS
Effective January 1, 2020, John and Gwen Johnson have been appointed Global Strategy regional coordinators for Africa, succeeding Mike Webb and Heather Webb, who have been appointed executive directors of Children of Promise, Inc. John and Gwen understand their role as facilitating healthy spaces for the Church of God in Africa to thrive. To that end, they travel throughout the region, working in collaboration with national leaders to develop regional ministry strategies and country-specific strategies, cultivating relationships within the Church of God across Africa, connecting the church across the region. They also oversee projects and missionaries in the region, providing pastoral care and supervision.

THEIR STORY
John and Gwen Johnson have been involved in cross-cultural ministry and missions with the Church of God since 1980 when they first served with the Missionary Board of the Church of God. Since then, they have lived in Korea, Egypt, Lebanon, on the island of Guam, and Vietnam. Most recently John has coordinated Native American Ministries and Disaster Relief for Global Strategy.
