Dive into the world of Narnia this summer as we unpack themes like wonder, temptation, hope, and a long winter’s end and relate them to truths in Scripture.

Starting THIS Sunday, June 7*, this intergenerational Sunday School class will enjoy teaching and discussion following the story of The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis.

Reading along is encouraged, but not required; video clips will be shown each week to keep you up to speed. All ages are welcome; meet us in the Fellowship Hall at 9:30.

*This class runs through August 2nd but please note: we will NOT meet on Sunday, July 5!

Our annual Women’s Summer Study will be kicking off again in just a few weeks and this year it will be a summer in the Psalms. 📖

Through video teachings and the companion study guide from At His Feet Studies, we will open God's prayer book and learn how to apply the Psalms to our lives today.

Bring a friend and join us this summer as we study the songs that Jesus sang:

This weekend is a big one:

📍 LAST Sunday School of the ministry year!

As summer approaches, our rhythm will change slightly for our 9:30 a.m. discipleship hour for kids, teens, and adults. Here's what you need to know:

✨ May 24 - Final day of our normal Sunday School until August.

✨ May 31 - No Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. **Childcare WILL still be available for littles (kindergarten & younger) during all 3 services ALL summer long!

✨ June 7 - New intergenerational Sunday School class, "Beyond the Wardrobe: Seeing Jesus in Narnia" begins! All ages are welcome to join us in the Fellowship Hall for this special 8-week class as we explore Biblical themes in The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. Reading along is encouraged but not required; video clips will be shown each week to keep you up to speed.

At their best, Parish Groups are spiritual families where we grow, celebrate, and grieve together. Here, the children of Third learn what it means to be part of God’s family around a smaller table.

Recently the Three Chopt Parish Group celebrated their two graduating high school seniors and their families with blessings, prayers, and a party.

Then they turned and extended this same love to the 10 University of Richmond students who weekly attend Third by filling, personalizing, and delivering exam treat bags.

Just a few more weeks til summer break which means we’ve got some updates to share!

On May 24 we’ll say goodbye for now to our current Sunday School classes as we pause our normal rhythm for summer.

This means that May 31-August 23, all adults, teens, and kids 1st grade and up will not meet as usual at 9:30. Instead, you can spend that discipleship hour differently — connecting with your neighbors, resting, grabbing a coffee with a friend from church, gathering in our prayer room… OR in our intergenerational class that begins June 7.

Curious what this 8-week class will look like? Rumors have it it involves: 🚪✨❄️🌲👑⚔🦁📖🏹 (Any guesses??) More details to come!

Mark your calendars, save the date —

You’ll hear stories, humor, reflections, and devotionals written and read aloud by members of the Third community.

Third’s gallery is a rotating showcase of work created by artists in our church and community.

The artwork in Third’s gallery changes with the liturgical seasons, offering artists’ perspectives on the themes of the season, our communal life as a church, and their own personal stories. We believe that creativity and craftsmanship are gifts from God, the original and ultimate Creator.

Our vision is to offer a venue for artists to share those gifts with the wider community, and our mission is to display and celebrate beauty, inspire curiosity, disrupt apathy, challenge assumptions, delight the senses and prompt worship.

Viewing art and engaging thoughtfully with it can be a spiritual formation practice: God can disciple us by the art to understand and appreciate his world and ourselves in it. We hope that viewers will not only enjoy the gallery, but be moved or changed by it in some way.

Katherine’s family went through a season where life had filled up. Something had to give... and sadly, it was church involvement. After years of being very involved, they found that we were Sunday worship attendees at best. They were disconnected from the goings on and the relationships they had at Third. But a year ago something changed.

They agreed they did not want to be on the sidelines anymore.

A great first step was attending last year’s fall retreat for the first time… and needless to say, they loved it.

There was beauty in the in-between moments that the retreat offers. Away from the pace of normal life, gathered in the beautiful Shenandoah valley, spending time with people across ages and stages and Parish Areas, it’s a time to reconnect with God and each other.

One year later Katherine and her family find themselves off the sidelines. More connected, more refreshed. Maybe that’s just what you need, too.

Join us this year for Fall Retreat as we explore what it means to be “rooted together” — with God and with each other.

Like desserts? Want to support our students and their short-term missions trip to Mexico?

🧁🍪🥧🇲🇽If so, join us for this year’s Dessert Auction!

Our team of students and adult volunteers is our largest yet with over 40 (!!!) participants. Our total fundraising goal is $25,000 and we still have a little less than $20,000 to raise.
