St. Jude's Anglican Church

St. Jude's Anglican Church St. Typically, we have Morning Prayer on the first Sunday of the month (unless it is a feast); we celebrate Holy Communion all other Sundays.

Jude's Anglican Church (REC/ACNA) is a traditional congregation focused on Jesus Christ, His Gospel of salvation to all people, robust worship through Word and Sacrament, warm community, holiness, and sound Biblical preaching and teaching. Regular members generally wear "church clothes": coats, ties, etc., but this is not required. We worship using a traditional prayer book and hymnal. We welcome

all ages into the divine liturgy. We enjoy refreshments after the service. Outside of summer, we have classes after the refreshments--generally a Bible study or series on theological topics. If you're a visitor, the rector (head pastor) or other member of the clergy would love to meet you and chat with you. We also have events on weekdays, depending on the season. These include Wednesday Evening Prayer and Bible study, Tuesday morning women's Bible study, Saturday morning men's Bible study, fellowship suppers, and "Holy Smokes" men's fellowship. Inquire if you'd like more information. If you have any questions, you can email us via our website's contact form, found at the bottom of the landing page: https://stjudesrec.org/

What do the holy angels declare but the grandeur of a Thrice-holy God? Is this not what the four Gospels reveal to us–the Father sends the Son Who is anointed by the Holy Spirit that we might have salvation secured for us? That we might be adopted by the Father, become members of the Son’s body, and have the Holy Ghost indwell us as Tabernacles? A Triune God Who always was, Who is, and Who is to come–the urgency of our Maker, Redeemer, and Sustainer coming to us to establish His judgment and reign in all fullness? The four creatures rest not day or night to declare it–who are we that we are so easily distracted by the baubles and trinkets of this fallen world?

Disciples of Jesus see the Holy Spirit at work in the world, particularly in their hearts and the hearts of their brethren. The Messiah Himself says, “But you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.”

But how did the Spirit come? That’s something we remember today, in this season of Ascensiontide. The Son has to ascend in order for the Spirit to descend.

We must not cow in fear from prayer, and, just as importantly and more frequently, we must not take the great honor and privilege of prayer for granted.

Throughout the Farewell Discourse, particularly in John 16, there’s a seesaw movement–an inverse reaction–between the fallen sinful world and the disciples of Jesus, which is to say, the Kingdom of God or the renewed creation: one sorrows when the other rejoices.

Jesus asks for food and eats broiled fish and honeycomb in the disciples' presence. Earlier in the Gospels, Jesus had likened the church as a great catch of fish, and now He takes the Church into Himself–we are consumed by and incorporated into Jesus.
