St. Jude's Anglican Church

St. Jude's Anglican Church St. Typically, we have Morning Prayer on the first Sunday of the month (unless it is a feast); we celebrate Holy Communion all other Sundays.

Jude's Anglican Church (REC/ACNA) is a traditional congregation focused on Jesus Christ, His Gospel of salvation to all people, robust worship through Word and Sacrament, warm community, holiness, and sound Biblical preaching and teaching. Regular members generally wear "church clothes": coats, ties, etc., but this is not required. We worship using a traditional prayer book and hymnal. We welcome

all ages into the divine liturgy. We enjoy refreshments after the service. Outside of summer, we have classes after the refreshments--generally a Bible study or series on theological topics. If you're a visitor, the rector (head pastor) or other member of the clergy would love to meet you and chat with you. We also have events on weekdays, depending on the season. These include Wednesday Evening Prayer and Bible study, Tuesday morning women's Bible study, Saturday morning men's Bible study, fellowship suppers, and "Holy Smokes" men's fellowship. Inquire if you'd like more information. If you have any questions, you can email us via our website's contact form, found at the bottom of the landing page: https://stjudesrec.org/

Look at what false preachers and teachers do. They can encourage evil, discourage good, endorse sin, remove essential consolations, and smother the truth of salvation. They can produce shallow, worldly people that think they are good Christians. They can be tremendously therapeutic, or they can be shock jocks trying to generate attention with antics and anger. But always, always, always, there will be bad fruit!

We die in Christ via baptism. How shocking! Baptism is a cut-off point. We leave sin behind to partake of a life in Christ. It is an exit and an entry-way.

This is what Jesus offers His disciples: not an immediate political freedom from the Roman yoke (or any other political yoke for that matter), but rather an existential or spiritual freedom from sin.

When someone is a child of God, his punishment doesn’t last forever. God teaches and forms us through suffering. The challenge is opening ourselves up to Him and trusting Him through the trial, submitting to His truth and drawing closer to Him in love.

The question laid upon God’s people then and still today is, “Will you receive the amazing things that God graciously offers, or will you make excuses?” And the excuses mentioned here in Deuteronomy, ironically, point to how God should be trusted, and that His Kingdom and His goodness should be desired above even our own mortal lives.

Asaph went into worship – and worship changed Asaph. Through his worship the whole of life was placed before Asaph. And by seeing the whole of life instead of just the immediate situation and distress, Asaph learned the end of the wicked, and his whole perspective was changed.
