"More Room at the Table"
Sunday, June 14 • 11:00 AM

Over the years, Thoreau has changed and grown in many ways. As we prepare for another significant transition, we'll explore what change means, how communities navigate it, and how we can make room for new possibilities.

Following the service, stay for:
🌭 A Father's Day Cookout
🎤 The Thoreau Talent Show

This will also be our final Sunday in the building until mid-August, making it a special opportunity to gather together before we begin our summer chapter.

Whether you're a longtime member, a first-time visitor, or somewhere in between, there's always room at the table.

All are welcome.

A new week is beginning.

Whether you’re feeling energized, overwhelmed, hopeful, uncertain, or somewhere in between, you don’t have to show up as anything other than yourself.

This Pride Month, we celebrate the beauty of authenticity and the courage it takes to live openly and honestly. We believe every person has inherent worth and dignity—and that our community is stronger when we make room for every story.

Wherever this week finds you, may you find moments of connection, joy, and belonging.

🌈 Happy Tuesday ❤️

May we be inspired by the passion for justice and the courage to envision a better world that filled the nameless many who went before us. May we, too, dare to dream and choose to live in freedom.

US Military officially drops Unitarian Universalist from their list of recognized religions. The restructuring of faith codes, which help identify service members as well as the military in planning for appropriated religious coverage to include them, has now excluded minority faith/worldview groups including Atheists, Asatru, Deists, Druids, Eckankar, Heathens, Humanists, Magick, New Age churches, Pagan, Rosicrucianism, Shaman, Spiritualists, Troth, Unitarian Universalists and various Wiccans.

Defense Secretary Hegseth previously announced the change due to an "impractical" system.

🎉 Weekend plans?

We're big fans of farmers markets, library visits, backyard conversations, community events, and anything that brings people together.

Strong communities aren't built in meeting rooms alone—they're built wherever neighbors connect.

However you're spending your weekend, we hope it's filled with connection, curiosity, and a little fun.

✨ What are you looking forward to this weekend?

Sunday, June 7, 11 am “The Call of the Shofar”
Rabbi Cantor Renee Waghalter of Congregation Beth El will be back in our pulpit to talk about an integral part of the Jewish tradition. On Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year, we blow 100 blasts of the shofar in a service divided into three parts with accompanying verses from the Hebrew Bible. What is a shofar? How does one blow it and why?

🏳️‍🌈 Pride began as a protest.

It grew into a movement. A celebration. A declaration that LGBTQ+ people deserve to live openly, safely, and authentically.

At Thoreau UU, affirmation is more than a statement—it’s a commitment. We believe that every person has inherent worth and dignity, and we work toward a world where that truth is reflected in our laws, our communities, and our daily lives.

Pride isn’t just about who we celebrate.
It’s about the future we’re building.

🌈 A future where everyone belongs.
