Our new Director of Family Programs, ๐ƒ๐ข๐š๐ง๐š ๐Œ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ณ, will share the vision behind Loterรญa Intergenerationalโ„ข, a reimagining of the traditional Mexican game designed to open doors to meaningful, healing conversations across generations.

A Certified Bilingual Chaplain, community artist, dialogue facilitator, and longtime arts educator, Diana brings more than 25 years of experience in arts education and 16 years of hospital and hospice chaplaincy to this work.

Through play, storytelling, and cultural connection, weโ€™ll explore how we can talk more openly about aging, lifeโ€™s transitions, and the legacies we leave behindโ€”with ๐ฃ๐จ๐ฒ, ๐ฐ๐ข๐ฌ๐๐จ๐ฆ, ๐š๐ง๐ ๐œ๐จ๐ง๐ง๐ž๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง.

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and all those whose lives were forever changed.

We hold in our hearts the families, friends, first responders, and communities who carriedโ€”and continue to carryโ€”the weight of that day.

This Labor Day, We Give Thanks

Today, we honor the people whose work keeps our communities movingโ€”those who build, teach, care, serve, create, organize, and contribute in countless ways.

And while we celebrate workers today, we know that honoring work also means standing up for fair wages, safe working conditions, dignity, and a meaningful voice in the workplace.

This Labor Day, letโ€™s do more than celebrate workers. Letโ€™s stand with them. Letโ€™s support workersโ€™ rights and work toward an economy where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Hope isn't pretending that everything is fine.

Hope is seeing what is difficultโ€”and choosing not to give up.

It is believing that change is possible enough to work toward it.
It is finding one small thing we can do when the problems feel too big.
It is remembering that we are not alone in the work.

As Unitarian Universalists, we don't have to agree about what the future will look like. But we can choose to help create a future that is more just, more compassionate, and more welcoming.

In this TalkBack service, our Emeritus Minister, Rev. Dr. Dan King, will offer ideas for improving communication through Nonviolent Communication, Emotional Intelligence, and UU principles.

How might listening more deeply change the way we relate to one another? How can we communicate in ways that help us move beyond conflict and toward greater understanding?

After Rev. Danโ€™s presentation, the service will open up for questions, comments, and discussion, giving everyone an opportunity to share their thoughts and perspectives.
