Sometimes when I get an idea for a painting, I feel overwhelmed with the task of actually creating it. I know I’ll have to get the proportions, shapes, colors, values, brush strokes and other elements correct. It requires faith to go through the process of creating what I can only envision. It can be a long process that requires many steps and great effort. Along the way, I can’t fully see what the final piece will look like, I just have to image it with “an eye of faith”. I have to put in the basic colors and shapes and then continue to add details and refine it until I have the finished piece.
Having faith in Jesus Christ is very similar. From the Scriptures and words of the prophets, we have an idea of what our Heavenly Father designs for us to become. It can be quite overwhelming to think of the distance between where we are now and what we can become. But as we trust in the Savior Jesus Christ and His power to change us, we can look forward with hope and an “eye of faith” to what He plans for us. We apply our faith as we live His Gospel and repent of our sins, make and keep covenants with Him and follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is a process that we continue throughout our whole life, little by little becoming refined through His Atoning power and thus becoming the person that He envisioned us becoming.
He designs to make us into a masterpiece, and if we will follow His directions with faith we can become who He knows we have the potential to be.

A veces cuando recibo una idea de algo que debo pintar, me siento un poco abrumada por el trabajo que va a requerir crearlo. Sé que tendré que poner las proporciones, formas, colores, tonos, pinceladas, y otros elementos correctos. Requiere fe crear lo que que solo puedo imaginar. Puede ser un proceso con muchos pasos que toma mucho esfuerzo. Durante el proceso, no puedo ver cómo será la obra final, solo tengo que imaginarlo con “el ojo de la fe”. Tengo que ponder los colores y formas básicas y luego continuar a poner más detalles y refinarlo hasta que tengo la pintura final.
El tener fe en Jesucristo es muy similar. De las Escrituras y las palabras de los profetas, tenemos algún entendimiento de lo que nuestro Padre Celestial quiere que lleguemos a ser. Puede ser abrumador pensar en la diferencia entre lo que somos ahora y lo que podemos llegar a ser. Pero si confiamos en el Salvador Jesucristo y en Su poder de cambiarnos, podemos mirar hacia adelante con esperanza y con “el ojo de la fe” a lo que Él tiene planeado para nosotros. Aplicamos nuestra fe al vivir los principios de Su Evangelio y arrepentirnos de nuestros pecados, hacer y guardar convenios con Él incluso el bautismo, y seguir la guía del Espíritu Santo. Es un proceso que continuamos durante toda la vida; poco a poco somos refinados por Su poder expiatorio y así llegamos a ser la persona que Él esperaba que llegaríamos a ser.
Él planea convertirnos en “una obra maestra”, y si seguimos Su guía con fe podemos llegar a ser quien Él sabe que tenemos el potencial de ser.
