Pastor's Memo: June 2, 2025

Good Day Daniel Baptist Church,

The Lord's blessings are multiplied to us! We rejoice because Jesus is the Bread of Life, John 6. Jesus is the Light of the World, John 8. Jesus is the Door of the sheep to the fold, John 10. Jesus is the Great Shepherd, John 10. Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life, John 11. Hallelujah! Praise to Jesus.

We are thankful for a wonderful week at Daniel Baptist Church. On Saturday, we gathered for "Family Faith-in-Action" to study God's Word, serve Him and fellowship with one another. We are thankful for everyone who was there and all the things we were able to accomplish for the Lord and our church. The next "Family Faith-in-Action" will be June 27th.

Wednesday night will be our mid-week Bible study at 6:30. We enjoyed our study on prayer for the last 10 weeks. You will enjoy this time on Wednesday to fortify your spiritual life, sing hymns of the faith and fellowship with one another.

This coming Sunday, we will have Denny Edenfield with us to tell us about the Gideons. We are thankful for their ministry providing Bibles for so many people.

We are looking forward to Vacation Bible School July 17-19. Please pray for VBS and consider serving.

This month, I invite you to read Thom Rainer's book "Vibrant Church" along with me. Each week, I will post some comments about the topics of the book. We pray that God will guide our church in our desire to please Him and be a Vibrant church. You can purchase the book on Amazon. Follow this link. https://shorturl.at/ZO5I0

Devotional: Made with Purpose

Psalm 138:8 tells us, "The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me." God has a purpose for us. Every detail of how we are made is made to give expression to God's purpose for us. The time and place we are born in history is a part of God's plan. Our parents and up-bringing are a part of God's plan. All of the things that make up life fit intricately into God's overall plan for our lives.

This plan starts with creation. We are made in God's image. "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them." Genesis 1:27 God's purpose is that we bear his image in the world. His plan is that the image of Christ be formed in us. "For those who are called according to his purpose..he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son." Romans 8:28,29

God created Adam in his image. Sin marred the purpose for which we were made. Christ restores that image to its fullest brilliance. The Bible describe this as a transformation that takes place as we behold the full glory of Jesus Christ.
"And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit." 2 Corinthians 3:18

Are we beholding the glory of Jesus? Are we reading the Bible and fixing our eyes on Jesus to see His glory?

Coming up in June:
Read and study with me the Thom Rainer book "Vibrant Church". You can purchase the book online. I will post some thought about a chapter each week. https://a.co/d/08LLeuEf

Weekly Memo: 5/18/2026
Good Day Daniel Baptist,

The words of Jesus ring out clearly. He is the Door! He is the Good Shepherd! He is the Son of God!

He is the Door. There is only one entrance to the sheep fold of God. Jesus is the door, the way. No other way or door is possible.

He is the Good Shepherd. Inside the fold, we are cared for by Jesus. We are protected. He knows us and we know Him.

He is the Son of God. We are kept in His hand. No one and no thing can removed us from the protective covering of the hands of Jesus and the Father!

Praise God for these wonderful truths from the Bible.

Looking ahead at Daniel Baptist Church:

Saturday, May 30th from 10am-12pm we will join together as a church for Family Faith-in-Action. Don’t miss this time of Bible study, service, and fellowship. Let’s put our faith in action!

Devotional: Focused on Jesus

Several months ago, we began our study of the Gospel of John with the truth that we should be supremely focused on Jesus. John 20:31 – "These are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name." This verse sums up everything that John is saying, and the message is that life is in Jesus. The life of the church is Jesus!

The life and ministry of Jesus is the focus of John. He should be our focus too. Jesus is the unchanging foundation of our faith. Like a compass pointing true north, fixing our eyes on Him aligns every step of our mission. When we aren't focused on Jesus our priorities are out of balance.

Steve Taylor, a pastor friend, recently wrote, "Before you worry about being a growing church, you must be a healthy church. A church that is filled with bitterness, strife, tension and anger will never receive the blessing of God. But a church that is filled with the love of God, soul healing and grace will see growth. Growth of community, growth in spirituality and growth of influence. Like anything else in life, growth comes from health! Focus on being healthy, growth will take care of itself."

Building a church begins with getting our priorities right. Putting Jesus first and keeping our focus on Him is essential and foundational in the life of the church.
