With nearly 40 million Kurds scattered around the world, Pastor Georges Houssney says spiritual openness is growing.

"Every time there's a war, there's a great movement toward Christ," Houssney said. "People become disillusioned with the world and with religion that causes war. Khamenei in Iran and Bin Laden – those two made a huge difference for the gospel because they gave false hope. There are those who ask, 'Why are we following this religion of destruction...?' And so they are flocking into the Kingdom through Jesus Christ."

People ask, what’s driving this mass exodus?

I think the biggest thing is this: We are in an information age where, for the first time in 1400 years since Islam’s roots have been planted, information has never been more accessible—even in the most persecuted, underground regions.

I call it the truth-seeking era of Islam.

You don’t need to go to a devout father or imam anymore. You can go straight to the Gospels, the Old Testament, the top Christian scholars. You can read for yourself.

And that breaks the old chain of command that kept so many people in place—because many didn’t actually know how accurate or limited the information they were receiving really was.

Now, with access to world-class scholarship at your fingertips, and missionaries bringing real resources into hard places, there’s a cross-pollination of truth happening.

And it’s changing everything.

People can make decisions for themselves.

And here’s the beauty of the Christian faith:

Jesus says, “My sheep hear my voice.” People are simply reading His words and feeling alive. Feeling peace they’ve never felt before. And being on the front lines of Muslim evangelism, especially in underground regions, I’m seeing hundreds of testimonies of people who are just reading the Bible.

No deep study. Just reading and encountering Christ. It’s one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen.
