Sunday we looked at The Shire and what it can remind us about building faithful homes in a dark world.

The world around us may be chaotic, but that does not mean our homes have to be.

Plant the garden. Sit around the table. Raise your children. Love your spouse. Know your neighbors. Worship Christ. Build something good, peaceful, and faithful right where God has planted you.

We cannot control everything happening outside our doors, but we can be faithful with what God has placed inside them.

At Risen Church, one of our core values is People of Prayer. We believe prayer isn't simply something we do when we need help—it's how we continually draw near to God, depend on Him, and surrender our lives to His will.

Scripture calls us to bring everything to God in prayer, trusting that His peace is greater than our circumstances. We are also called to pray continually and faithfully, lifting up one another and standing firm in the faith.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God." — Philippians 4:6

Prayer changes our perspective, strengthens our faith, and reminds us that we were never meant to carry life on our own.

Join us this Sunday as we explore what it means to become People of Prayer—a church that seeks God first, prays boldly, and trusts Him with everything.

At Risen Church, one of our core values is Students of Scripture. We believe God's Word is more than something we read on Sundays—it is the foundation that shapes what we believe, how we live, and who we are becoming.

Scripture teaches, corrects, equips, and prepares us to live faithfully for God. As we study His Word, we come to know not only what God has said, but the God who has spoken.

"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness." — 2 Timothy 3:16

And because we know God's Word, we can confidently draw near to Jesus, our great High Priest, knowing that He understands our weaknesses and invites us to come boldly to Him.

The Christian life isn't built on willpower alone. It's built on surrender.

Every "no" to sin is really a greater "yes" to Jesus.

As the Holy Spirit transforms us, we begin to treasure Christ more than the things that once controlled us.

That's what devoted discipleship looks like.
