Writer Michael Heinlein will be visiting the Diocese of Yakima May 18-19 to speak about "Glorifying Christ," his recently published biography of Cardinal Francis George, who was ordained Bishop of Yakima in 1990 and served here for six years. Cardinal George died of cancer on April 17, 2015, not long after retiring as Archbishop of Chicago.
See the attached flyer for more details about Masses of Thanksgiving at 5:30 p.m. in Yakima at La Salle High School May 18, and at 5:30 p.m. in Richland at Christ the King Catholic Church May 19. Mr. Heinlein, editor of Our Sunday Visitor's simplycatholic.com website, will give a short talk after each Mass during a reception and book signing event. A number of books will be available for sale.
In a farewell to the Faithful of the Diocese, Bishop George "beckoned his flock to 'lift high the cross that Fr. Pandosy first erected here 150 years ago' and in doing so urged them to be 'a people so in love with Christ that you will be constantly looking for ways to share your faith with others.'" – From "Glorifying Christ."
