This Lords Day my message will be Psalms 23, “The Shepherd Provides”. I have a sign in my office at home stating “The Lord is my Shepherd, I lack Nothing!” and this is so true. If we have Jesus, we lack nothing this world could provide. There are passages of Scripture that we read, and there are passages of Scripture that read us. Psalms 23 is one of those passages. It speaks to us when we are strong, and it speaks to us when we are weak. It speaks to us when life is going well, and it speaks more deeply when life becomes difficult. It is a psalm about living under the care of God. Right now!! Present tense. It means right now, in this moment, God is caring for me. When I am confused, afraid, tired, walking through a valley and cannot see what is ahead, He is my Shepherd. We were never created to walk our journey alone. The sheep need a shepherd, and we need the Lord. You’re invited to join us this Lord’s Day at Richland Global Methodist 9 am or come to our service at Dawson Global Methodist at 11am. This Lord’s Day, is Communion Sunday, and our message is from Matthew 18: 15-20, “Restoration in the Church”. Biblical church discipline is not primarily about punishment; it is about pursuing restoration, protecting the fellowship, and honoring Christ’s authority in His church. Jesus has given us a responsibility, not an opinion. Matthew 18:15 is the first instruction and it’s simple; “if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone.” Jesus doesn’t say to talk about him, tell everyone what happened or put it on social media. He said go because the goal is restoration. Private sin doesn’t need to become public embarrassment if it can be resolved privately. Proverbs 17:9 says”He that covereth a transgression seeketh love”. Not covering sin in the sense of ignoring it— but refusing to unnecessarily broadcast someone’s failure. Everyone has temptations and challenges its human nature. Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is have a difficult conversation that nobody else ever hears. But, if he will not hear thee, take one or two more with thee. There should be patience before escalation. If the first conversation doesn’t work, the Lord provides additional steps. Be careful who you bring to the situation. This is not permission to raise a group against someone with pitchforks and torches! The people you involve should be spiritually mature and genuinely interested in restoration of the brother or sister. This is our final week of the Seven week Series, “The Church Beyond the Walls”. Our Scripture will be Acts 2:42-47, and our theme will be, “What happens when a church truly becomes the church God has called it to be?”What happens when our faith is not something we simply talk about on Sunday morning, but something that shapes the way we live every day? What happens when the love we have for Christ begins to overflow into the lives of the people around us? The early church didn’t have impressive buildings, elaborate programs, social media, no resources or technology churches have available to us today. They had something far more important! THEY HAD JESUS🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 our Scripture gives us a picture of a church that was alive , not busy or merely gathered, not existing, but alive in Christ! Their lives began to affect the people around them. Their faith could be seen. Their lives experiences. Their generosity could be felt and their joy could be witnessed. The mission of the church doesn’t end when the worship service ends. We carry Jesus outside our doors into a broken world that desperately needs the Lord. Week Six of our Series The Church Beyond Walls. This Lord’s Day our message will be “Community in Christ” , from Mark 10:45, “ for even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many”. As we continue our journey through this series, we have been talking about what it means for the church to reach beyond the four walls of our buildings and become the presence of Jesus in the community around us. What does reaching people actually look like? What does the love of Jesus look like when it leaves the church building? What does Christianity look like on Monday🤷🏼‍♀️ Notice what Jesus says about Himself: I didn’t come to be admired, recognized or comfortable, I came to serve. That is the heart of Jesus. A church cannot simply gather people together on Sunday and call that ministry. We gather to be strengthened to go out Monday through Saturday. The church is not at its best when it is simply gathered. It is at its best when it is sent! You are invited to join us in Richland at 9am for Church and 10:30 for Sunday School or in Dawson at 11am for Church.
