Mt. Ararat AME Zion Church
With heavy hearts, we share that our beloved community member, Mr. Thomas James “Peanut” Gaston Jr., age 53, has gone from labor to reward.
“Peanut,” as he was affectionately known, was dearly loved by many. His warm spirit, caring nature, and presence will truly be missed by all who knew him. He departed this life on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Hospice and Community Care in Rock Hill, SC, surrounded by his loving and devoted family, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
While we grieve his passing, we find peace in knowing that he now rests in the comforting embrace of our Lord and Savior.
We extend our sincere condolences and lift the Gaston family in continued prayer. May God’s unfailing grace, peace, and strength sustain you during this time of sorrow.

There’s something so special about seeing the generations connect. This little one loves sitting with our drummer every Sunday, watching, learning, and soaking it all in. And the way our drummer takes the time to guide him, encourage him, and even let him play a little — that’s what church family looks like.Moments like this remind me that our children are always watching, always learning, and always growing. I’m grateful for a church where gifts are shared, hearts are open, and the next generation is being poured into with love. Who knows… we might be looking at our future drummer right here.
