What are you holding tightly — and what would it take to open your hands? This Sunday, we’ll explore Deuteronomy 14:22–15:23, a passage that brings together joyful meals, neighbors in need, and the surprising challenge of letting go. We’ll consider how remembering God’s generosity might change the way we enjoy what we have and respond to the people around us. Before Sunday, take a few minutes to read the passage slowly. As you read, bring this question before him: “Lord, where might you be inviting me to live with a more open hand?”

It’s Pastor Appreciation Month! We are incredibly grateful for the leadership God has given our church. Let’s remember to honor and pray for them. Here are 3 ways we can pray for our pastors:

Pray for wisdom and faithfulness. “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God” (James 1:5). Pray for God to guide our pastors in teaching, decisions, and care for the church.

Pray for strength and protection. Pray that God would sustain our pastors through weariness and help them stand firm in faith (Isaiah 40:31; Ephesians 6:10–11).

Pray for love and boldness in ministry. Pray that our pastors would speak God’s word clearly and serve others with patience and compassion (Colossians 4:3–4; 1 Peter 5:2–3).

This Sunday, we will be diving into Deuteronomy 14:1-21 and seeing that God teaches us about holiness through the understanding and use of our bodies. We will see that God teaches us that our bodies are instruments of hope in God’s victory during times of mourning. We will also see that God uses our need for food to teach us about His holiness. So get excited and bring a snack, because we’ll learn about the food laws and how they apply to our lives today!

1. Is this message consistent with Scripture?
2. Does this lead me to love Jesus more, or love myself more?
3. Does it center on Jesus Christ crucified and risen?
4. Does it produce genuine holiness and reliance on God?
